Did we get a scathing review like this for the 3DS? This is quite possibly the worst piece of journalism I have ever read regarding hardware that's not even launched here yet - wtf?

Out of the three, I'd say Nintendo would be the likely candidate to drop out of the console war, even though their Wi sold really well, I think they just got lucky with that - the handheld market is a different thing altogether though - I can't see them letting that one go. PS3 or XBOX? - I would have to go with the PS3 on this one - it's just a better piece if hardware all round in my book - XBOX is really starting to show it's age a bit now but it has been a great console and really gave Sony a run for it's money - definitely a better seller but it's had it's day I think. Sony also has a decent share of the handheld market as well and with the release of the PSVita just around the corner, I can see that making waves very soon. Sony have invested heavily in it, so they aint going anywhere.

Anyone half serious about their handheld gaming will hold off until the PSVita comes along, it's a far superior product - build quality, power, massive OLED screen, dual analogue sticks, tons of features & games. This is bad PR and marketing by Nintendo when people just perceive them knocking out any old rubbish as quickly as possible to try and remedy bad design decisions. I think we will see a different landscape when Vita is launched.

Yeah, overall, I think Sony did really well out of this years E3 conference. The fact that the PSN outage and all the surrounding bad press they got prior to the conference makes it even more remarkable. An awesome games line-up and crucially, they showcased a very powerful handheld console - the PSVita. Nintendo announced the WiU but I think generally speaking, it's been received very poorly so far but only time will tell if people are going to be drawn to it - my guess is it won't accumilate sales anywhere near the Wi console did. The 3DS seems to have fallen off the radar as well and I hear nothing about it these days - what happened there? Microsoft didn't do particularly well in this E3 - a terrible showcase presentation that did nothing for me personally. I own all 3 consoles, PS3, XBOX360 & Wi and for me, Sony is where it's at right now.

Now that Nintendo are finally adding some decent power and specs to their hardware, the price of it will also go up and that will undoubtedly put a lot of people off - just look at all the flak Sony has had pricing the PS3 as they did. The Wi is hopelessly underpowered with super cheap components, so it's very affordable to make and sell and I'm pretty sure this has contributed to it's incredible sales figures, but it definitely isn't for the games catalogue, which let's be honest here, is hopeless. If it's to compete with the PS3 and XBox 360 and even Sony's rather awesome looking NGP, it needs to be priced similar (preferably lower to maintain their claim to cheapest console on the market) and with a massive library of (non gimicky) games. I'll believe that when I see it.
