it hased to be 2.5" and with a height of less than 12.5mm
I understand, but do you know a website that has a 2TB hard drive that is 2.5'' and less than 12.5mm because I can't find one on Best Buy's website and NewEgg.com
Ok, so the drive is a little big and will not fit inside the PS4. The reason I asked was because I heard that 2 TB is the biggest, but I also heard that you can get a 3 TB HDD as well since I plan on downloading some games with it. I hate to buy the wrong hard drive for nothing. Also, I heard that the PS4 will use 5400 rpm for its rotation speed. Will 7200 rpm be ok, or not since it can get hot sometimes and I hate for the console to overheat due to it.
Ok, I just read some news articles about the PS4's HDD and saw that it has a size just like the PS3's HDD with 2.5'. It also can support up to 12.5mm so is that 3.5' or what and I saw on Best Buy's website a hard drive I'm pretty interested in buying if it's the right size. Here's the link
[QUOTE="clyde46"]Didn't Sony say they didn't recommend putting a 7200RPM drive in a PS3?Chozofication
No. Â It's a marginal heat increase and doesn't void the warranty. Â I wouldn't put one in a launch Ps3 or the very first slim model, (the one with a 65nm gpu) though.
The Ps4 has a very, very good cooling system so it should be all good.
Awesome, that was what I was worried about. Hopefully Sony will have some information closer to launch about the HDD for PS4
[QUOTE="Suppaman100"][QUOTE="e_stone001"][QUOTE="Suppaman100"] Well you can put a 7200 rpm HDD in your console. That's a bit faster. Although SSD's are super fast. That will be a revolution if it reaches affordable prices, for PCs and consoles. I already have one and it's crazy how fast it boots. Yeah, I might go with the 7200 rpm next gen since right now I have a 500 GB 5400 rpm inside my PS3 right now. I'm kinda worried though since I heard although 7200 HDDs are faster, they can heat up quickly and sometimes might fry your hard drive if your console or PC is doing too much work, but that was earlier this generation when I heard the rumor. Expect a heat increase of 10%, but if you have a slim, there is no need to worry, it won't overheat. (look it up) Ok, thanks man. I'll be sure to get a 2 TB HDD once the PS4 comes out next month. My 5400 HDD inside my PS3 is doing really well and I have a least 150 out of 500 GB left on it thanks to PS Plus. So getting a 2 TB will be a big factor for me with 7200 rpm on the PS4.
there is no way it is one of those crazy fast ones.
it would be pretty cool if you could pay for a super fast hdd and swap one into it though.

Ok, thanks guys. I already know that the PS4 will come with a standard 500 GB HDD, but I was trying to figure out most about the HDD since I'm gonna upgrade my PS4 to 2 TB at launch since I still don't know the details about their hard drives.
Besides talking about the big 3, how will Valve, nVidia, and the Ouya console with Android 4.1 Jellybean, being surfaced? Will you buy one or just continue to look at the big 3 and even the PC. This year seems like a lot of new hardware for gamers like us.
