Thanks so much for the recommendation and retro directory! I took a small corner of thick envelop, soaked it in alcohol and slid it through the cartridge/pak slot carefully. The new adapter did help with the speed and I'm still set on the last cord leaking. I elevated the N64 on a glass surface to avoid over heating and the repeating has officially came to an end! I can now play without any issues. Thanks again for your patience and taking the time to reply in this thread!

I am not sure if this is the correct place to open an advice thread on Nintendo repairs but, I'm having a lot of difficulty with an N64 I purchased off a marketplace. Ever since I've fired up the system, it has been repetitively resetting itself in a 5 to 10 minute cycle during game play. I brought it into a nearby game shop where they told me it could had been either the memory card or AC adapter. (It reset, while they tested Majoras Mask) Sometimes the system would decide to work for over an hour before restarting and the longest I've gone during game play was about 2/3 weeks. After setting the system back up due to moving, it started the repeating cycle only worse minutes later..shutting off completely with the light remaining on.

I smelled the adapter and saw what appeared to be battery leakage (maybe) and immediately bought a replacement thinking this was very much the issue. After receiving the new part and testing the repeating is happening yet again! (not the adapter) I've had the system on for about 30/40 minutes and it hasn't done a restart, while in the main game menu. It only starts acting up during game play.. This is very much like my baby..I know kinda pathetic but, it brings back so many childhood memories for me. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do or what it could possibly even be? I thought it was dust build up and bought the gamebit to open up the system and do a deep clean throughout. The last suspicion I could even have would be the motherboard is going bad. Anyways, here is a list of what I've tried..

1) Sticking a card in the slot and cleaning the N64 with the highest alcohol grade.

2) Placing two small boxes under each side of the N64, in case it was over heating.

3) Placing thick paper or board between the adapter, thinking it was a connection loose.

4) Replacing the AC adapter

5) Getting advice from a game shop, they were clueless on what it could be.

6) Trying different games, that all eventually suffered from the same repeat issue.

7) Carefully hooking the system up and checking to see if there was sticking with the reset button. (there was not)

Now I am lost in the dark, as to what to do...help? Thanks so much.. ._.
