@Xristophoros: I definitely agree with that statement and I think a lot of that has to do with the changes in the industry that I referenced. I love Nintendo games and always will but their decline and Sony’s rise directly correlates to everything you mentioned. Yes gaming has become the top medium of entertainment, and Sony has appealed to the more mass audience since (dvd, blu-ray, current FPS, sports titles, multi plays, etc., online community.

@Xristophoros: Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge PlayStation fan since the beginning; however, this is somewhat skewed. Gaming today is FAR more popular than it was in Nintendo’s dominant heydays. Before only “nerds”played video games, now almost every household seems to have a video game system. Here is a sample article of kind of what I’m talking about:
