@o311rocks: Well that is the great thing if you don't like it you don't have to play it or even buy it. However, any game that sells 12 millions copies is a success for the developer and publisher no matter what you want to think.
@spartanro: Hype spread of the course of several days and/or weeks not to mention excellent review scores. If it was the truly horrible game you describe I don't think it would have done so well. You're right though it could use an upgrade in the engine and many of the RPG elements.
If you like Battlefield you will like this game. If you like your games to tell a story or you're not a fan of the Battlefield games you will probably not like this game. For me this game is crap because there is no story and I don't have the skill or friends to play this game. As far as I'm concerned EA has wasted the Star Wars license.
Basically, this guy is saying the beta is just like the retail game: simple story, rinse-and-repeat fetch quests, and loot in the form of weapons and armor that while there may be a lot of it it is all functionally the same. It seems like they left a lot out to give you something to do in a few years to stay interested by adding either paid or free DLC.
The article doesn't have the feel of a person who is into South Park the TV show. I suspect he gave it an accurate score when looked at from the perspective of an RPG that if it didn't use the South Park license there would be no point in making it. The graphics, game play mechanics, and story seems too simplistic, but hey that is the South Park TV show in its writing and humor.
@push88 Doesn't sound like bad story, but it's all in how it's presented. For me the game sounds too hard anyway. At the end of the day there is enough stress in my life without adding playing a video game so I can get a rush at the end because I made it through. But more power to those who like this game.
