$895 so you can play games and surf on a 4 inch screen?

People, they're funny.

Born_Lucky

I can buy it so it'll cost me under $400 (which I still think is a lot, but I'm willing to give it to a decent smartphone).

Also, I currently have one of those old indestructible Nokia's (you know which one I mean ;D)

OS wise it doesn't matter for you most likely. They are all solid at this point.

So It's not worth waiting for more info on the WP8?

Hi everybody!

Like the title says, I haven't bought a phone in 'bout 10 years, and I think it's time for an upgrade.I'm thorn between an iPhone 5 or a Windows Phone 8. I'd primarily use the phone for watching videos, making calls, playing games and texting.

Could you give me some reasons why I should buy an iPhone or WP8? Or maybe even an Android?

How I see it right now:

iPhone: + great number of apps, so lots of games to choose from, a lot of exclusive apps as well

- UI seems "old"

- costs a LOT

WP8: + Simple UI

+ Integration with Windows 8 sounds awesome

- Smaller app library, also no big titles like Infinity Blade, GTA 3 or other "legit" full 3D games

Thanks for your time and input!

Well, I downgraded my driver and now it's a lot better. My FPS never drops below 25 anymore, and the average is about 45-ish.

The 4870X2 is comparable to the 560ti or 6870, so I wouldn't say I can't run it.

Anyways, that's not the problem, the problem is that it doesn't matter what I tweak, I get the same frames per second, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Like I said before, I get the same FPS if I max the game (1680x1050, everything on high) as opposed to min settings (1024x768 everything on off/low), which indicates to me that it's not really hardware related.

An 4870 isn't cutting edge even if crossfired. You will need a 58xx+ card to get the most out of the game.

DABhand

it's not a regular 4870, it's the X2 version. Which according to the makers of GW2 would be able to easily max the game (coming from the blog post they released on performance).

Hey everybody

I'm enjoying the game, except for a couple of things:

-the auction house is STILL offline (c'mon it's been over a week now)
-PvP is offline a lot as well
-A lot of connectio problems
-Performance is HORRIBLE :/

I'd like to think I've a reasonable rig (it's over 4 years old, but it can run every new game at max):

intel quad q9550 @ 2.83 ghz
ATI HD 4870X2
4 gigs or RAM
win 7 64bit

I get around 25-ish FPS in your average area, with lag spikes in some areas going down to below 10 FPS (aka unplayable).

I've tried tweaking the settings, and the strange thing is that my FPS doesn't go lower when I max the game or when I run at the bare minimum. So if I'm running it at 1680x1050 at max I get 25 FPS, if I'm running it at 1024x768 at low I still get 25 FPS.

Does this mean the problem lies with GW2? Just a bad configured engine? I've looked around on the web, and I tried all the fixes, like setting your priority to high, disabling AA on your GPU, updating your drivers, but they all did pretty much nothing.

Are you guys experiencing any difficulties? Did you find any fixes?

Thanks, any help is appreciated

For me it's probably Wights and the harpy-class

Wights because I can't hit them while they're in the air and when I hit 'em ones they fly back up.. and well, harpies are just plain annoying

PS: I play as a melee character ^^

I have this annoying glitch..

When I start my game..(as the title says) it has no sound.

What I have to do to fix it, is restart the game (2 to 5 times most of the time)..but this is such a hastle, because it takes quite a time to boot the game :/

Does anyone else have this? I had the same problem with the demo BTW..

Thanks for any help

From what I've heard: Caxton is better for melee characters, Madeleine is better for ranged/mage characters.
