I meant in total since launch, not in recent sales. The Wii has over 95 million sales TOTAL for their console while the Xbox are at 69 million and the PS3 at 64 million. And i said nothing about the games other than their multi-platform issue, because I agree with what the article said about it. So your comment has no merrit to anything about what I said. Basically the wii produced nothing but exclusives for itself as it couldn't support what the PS3 and the Xbox dished out, and yes, it was gobbled up by casual gamers, and last i've seen, the Wii has the lowest console breaks out of the three not to mention there has only been, what? 1 version of the Wii? Why would you need to buy multiple?
@ecobacon I would really be suprised if they release it in 2013 as the PS3 is still powerful enough to still be used. I would say 2014 the earliest and 2015 the latest.
Honestly, Nintendo is the LAST company I'm worried about in the console wars. I don't have to remind anyone on how the Wii is the most selling console in the world right now. What could be actually really really cool for the Wii U is to have compatibility with their handhelds sort of like how the PSP interacts with the PS3, but Nintendo can take the innovation to new heights. One thing i praise the WiiU for is the new controller. It finally has the same amount of buttons as the playstation and xbox. Now they won't have any problems porting games and having to resort to gimicks. What i do wish is for a redesign of the controller to make any and all buttons accessible just by moving your fingers and not your whole hands. i think it's way too big. The price of nintendo consoles have always roamed around 200 dollars with the Wii initially costing $250 making it the highest console they've released. I'm pretty sure the Wii U will be 300 or less considering the higher specs.
@ToughCritic28 I'm not saying people shouldn't move on with their games but if you are going to prematurely end a console when it still has a lot of life left, you better have some b/c compatability with it. and in all actuality, it does not cost much time and money to get an emulator for ps1 games. The PS2 games are the ones that need extra hardware.
My problem is the PS3 has a lot of life left in it, and if they were to release another version, I pray to God that it's B/C compatible with all past playstation versions. From PS3 to PS1. My PS3 is B/C and i still play a lot of my PS2 games on it. Price-wise, I really don't care about the price. Just give me a good product out of the box. For those people who bought an Xbox with Xbox Live Gold, after 2 years, you payed the same amount as you would have for a PS3. So people who used that as an excuse are just kidding themselves. I'm suprised this article doesn't say anything about being Backwards compatible though.
I remember when Xbox once said they wanted to digitize gaming (as in not having to use disks). Unfortunately that can never happen due to the limited hard drive space that all consols have. I doubt that game enthusiasts will be happy purchasing a game, having to wait at least an hour and a half for the full game to download, then another 5 to 30 minutes to install the game, and then play it. it's just too many steps and the technology isnt there yet. Blu-Ray is the way to go, and it's more affordable now than when Sony implemented it in the PS3. They can do so much with the Kinect, it's not even funny, but the games that come out for it are just rediculous. The Wii already took all the health nuts with their exercise games. The Kinect needs to take a different approach with it and evolve gameplay. Cater more to the hardcore gamers. Suspense/Mystery games could possibly do the trick. Oh, one last thing. Don't prematurely release a console that has hardware malfunctions. Having your brand new console break down on you is not fun. It takes away players ability to play games for a while, and it makes the company spend resources to fix them and put in more money for research to correct the problem, and then releasing another version of it. Try partnering with a major processing company and trick out that badboy. Put in an AMD/Intel in that badboy and let it scream!
I'm really excited for a lot of these weapons. I remembered in the Alpha version of BF3 that you had to unlock attatchments for your secondary weapons. All secondary weapons were able to unlock silencers, red dot sights, and even scopes. And that domination looking game with the flags attatched to m-com stations. It looks like It could be 2 sides having to defend their own m-coms while trying to arm the others. If that's the case, It's going to look like a HUGE slugfest with games going for over 25 minutes easily.
