Is there any way that it could be a problem with the 360, i.e. it could have been an old console which was banned from live before it was refurbished?

Just plugged in a brand new replacement 360 from Microsoft after my old one red ringed and it won't connect to LIVE!

The ethernet cable is plugged in because my Windows Media Player prompted me that it found a new device, 'Xbox 360' and asked if I want to share files with it.

On the network test, everything passes except the 'Xbox Live' field.

Any suggestions?

P.S It has the hard drive from my old 360 in it.

We Spend HELLS OF LOADS of money for all of this technology, guess who doesn't even have water filters? Or Law enforcments? Hospitals? So, here's my plan. XBOX 360 is nice, its a good way to relax, but if we stopped making XBOXs and Playstations and started using some of that money, and trust me if we stopped playing XBOX there would be a **** load of money left over, we could spend some of that on the people who dont even have clean water. Honestly i love my XBOX 360, i love gaming, i love doing nothing all day, but in a few months, (when i get all my **** together in this country) I am going down to africa to help the locals with getting clean water and teaching them about health and safey.. yeah.. All that extra pocket change that goes into making HD **** could be greatly used for other people, and people in africa would greatly appreciate the donation, trust me. I mean, just think about all the money you would still have if we just sticked with n64 or playstation 1.

PS: We could still use the XBOXs that we've already made, but stop the production of more XBOXs and Playstations. I wouldn'ts want to make anyone cry by running into their house and stealing their xbox, that ****s expensive.

Not gonna happen in capitalist America. The Western World is about consumerism. And besides, there are other industries we could cut funding to in order to get money for the third world other than HD gaming. I mean, that's kinda a small niche industry. And I think it's kinda sad to see technology grind to a halt for that reason when money could come from other sources.

but considering how criterion games has been supporting the game pretty consistantly with free content before i dont mind paying a little bit for this.

I hate how split screen gaming is dying. It still is the ultimate way to play. It's much more enjoyable and personal to have the friends round and taunt eachother in person rather than through a headset.

I feel almost ripped off for those 800 MS points when the DLC took mere seconds to download, hinting that it simply unlocked data that was already in the game rather than downloading anything new. All I get is a mode where I have to take turns!? I wanted some neck and neck split screen racing through Paradise City!
