if a game is repetitive,tedious and has a paper-thin story then long playtime can be a bad thing

My concern is why TLOU why not FALLOUT or STATE OF DECAY. I mean fallout is quite popular. The only possible reason is because TLOU is a critical acclaim PS exclusive. it's almost like they are trying to provoke a console war to promote this game
