@cherub1000: No mans sky is still the most unique game I've played on ps4, failed promises aside. Apparently the free expansions added a ton to the game as well but I haven't jumped on in a while. Another big one coming this summer.
@Mondrath: I stopped playing division because every environment was either a snow swept city street or an underground garage, mall, etc. It was the same environment over and over and over. The same enemy over and over and over and over. It was a decent game but got boring really fast. No amount of content, bug patches, or game structure changes could fix that overall problem that I had with the game. Maybe Division 2 well be more varied, but then again, that's what we said about destiny 2...
If done right, Anthem will completely bury Destiny 2. Biowares recent announcement they are keeping focus on story even though its a co op game sounds promising.
I'll never understand why they dont pursue the government, what caused it, a cure, etc. They just gave up on that half way through the series then its just villain oh no, better kill him... now lets start over with a new villain. Like, I still watch the show, but I have to admit there is a lot of unexplored depth as far as exploring the virus itself. Fear the walking dead I got so excited when the military was involved and to hopefully slowly see the virus take its toll on the city. Instead, the military virtually disappeared and by like episode 4 the entire city was already infected. Such huge missed opportunities. My fear is that both shows will eventually end with no explanation about the virus itself.
@joshrmeyer: I know what they said, read the article again though. They said there will be free dlc, not that all dlc would be free. Many games have free dlc but also launch dlc passes. Look at resident evil 7 for instance, they released multiple pieces of content for free like the chris redfield story expansion but there was also still paid dlc. I'm not saying they will deff have paid dlc, but I wouldn't bank on everything being free. They are saying there will always be free quests and things added but not that its going to be indefinitely free dlc.
The first game was terrible. As a killing floor 1 and 2 fan I thought this would cure the itch in a first person melee kind of fashion and I just did not like it at all. Killing floor is a far superior game if you like this style of game.
@TwinStripeUK: Probably because thats the kind of mindset you went into it with. That or you are using the wrong weapon type that doesn't click with you. If you are using melee right now, switch to bow (turn off auto aim and auto focus in options if you do switch to bow). Bow is the best for people that are trying this game on a whim and usually play FPS. The bow controls just like a FPS gun kinda thing. Just a suggestion. Or of course, vice versa... if you started with bow and didnt like it then try a melee weapon and see if you like it more. This game is terrible if you aren't using the weapon you would like. I spent the beta hating my experience with melee weapons like the glaive and dual blades to the point that I wasn't going to get the game at launch. Then my brother talked me into buying the game and I decided to go with my instincts for weapon type and pick the bow this time. 140 hours+ later and I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
Also, if your not that good at these types of games and dying too much and that's whats throwing you off... try to spec some into defense. Divine blessing and health ups are the best for players that tend to get hit a lot. Also, being a fan of dinosaurs and dragons makes this game 10x more interesting. I am an avid fan of dinosaurs so this game is just amazing for me. This game and Ark are making this generation of systems one of my favorites. Dinosaurs are finally making a comeback, which hasn't really happened since Turok.
@joshrmeyer: Its obvious what they are doing, trying to keep us all around as long as possible until the DLC comes around so that we are still engaged and around to buy whatever inevitable paid DLC they release or expansions. Honestly though the game is still amazing with this fault and the structure of it (albeit grindy) is perfect for my current lifestyle. I pretty much get the young one to sleep at night then I have only 2 hours or so to game and this game is like perfect for pick up, kill a monster real quick, see if I got a good decoration, and repeat for an hour or two. I don't have to get invested in a story or sucked into it its just mindless fun. Some more difficult bosses and ways to get the RNG things would be nice though.
