Even the requirement to be logedin is easily hacked... Read package sent (you know they have a legit copy right?) and then read package that get returned from server. Make a exe file that convert that information so it never leave your computer. Pirates WIN. Its quiet sad that i have to use cracks from time to time to get a game i OWN to work -.-

Forced login can be overcome by a crack but savegames stored remotely cannot.

If it was possible to trick a server that stores data remotely Steam would be a hackfest with lots of people getting games for free from their servers.

I would normally be OK with a forced registration and login screen in order to play since it is their product and I only purchased a license to play it so they have the right to track when the gamers are using the product, that would also prevent other people with access to my computer from using my games.

But a required internet connection to "save" games is just plain stupid. These guys think that everyone in the world has a 100% uptime internet connection?

Plus I don't think this is just an anti-piracy move since it doesn't apply to xbox360 or PSP games, and those platforms are getting pirated as well. They are just trying to make PC users move to consoles.

It's better not to buy their games. Buy games from publishers that respect their customers.

I remember playing the second a few years ago and it was great, it may be dated for today's standards (graphically) but it is a fun game nonetheless.

This should be on the retro forum.

I only played Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis back in the 90's but I think the first 3 Monkey Island beat all of them.

eh .. no, it is a pc game, this is pc games forum, pc games don't have any generation and i don't really see why it doesn't belongs here ?

Yeah I just realized there is no retro forum, I confused it with the legacy platforms. Sorry about that.

Buy games off Steam in the future, that way you don't need to worry about DVDs or serial numbers anymore.

Get "World in Conflict", it's a good modern-based strategy game and runs well on most computers. You should be able to play it on medium with your machine.

Just a suggestion here, if you want to get a gaming machine and don't want to waste your money on overpriced hardware get a PC next time, gaming laptops are a scam.

I don't think there will be another SWAT title at least for the next 2 years. The franchise has a history of innovation, complexity and gameplay depth.

The 4th game was good enough to keep up with most games that you can see today, maybe on the next iteration of hardware there will be a 5th but certainly not yet.

Superior hardware in general, not just graphics. You can have more memory, more hard disk space allows you to keep more games installed at the same time. Also modding is good.

Plus you can do anything else on a high end PC, video and audio edition, application or web development, etc.

[QUOTE="ultima-flare"]

So...I downloaded Mass Effect and it can't run for crud. I can play Bioshock(and other UE3 games) 'fine' at about ~30fps on mix of high/very high. Anyway...my question is, is my low RAM bottlenecking my system? Even at lowest settings (1280x720 res though) ME runs like crap, borderline unplayable. I'm assuming its gotta be the memory since I am well above the minimum specs for every other category. Laptop btw, I am not expecting a super good framerate. Just something stable and playable.

Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.0 GHz

2GB DDR2 667MHz

GeForce 8600m GT 256mb

Would buying a second 2gb stick increase my performance much. I am using Vista btw. I heard Vista supposedly takes up 1gb of ram in the background at all times or something like that(as opposed to ~300 for XP)? Which would mean I am, effectively gaming with 1gb ram? Also, if I buy a new stick, does it have to have the same speed as my current 667?

ultima-flare

mass effect needs to be patched first otherwise it wont run. get all its patches.. i have this issue aswell :P

Ahh, that fixed it up thanks. I figured the Steam version was up to date, apparently not. :D

Steam automatically patches your games unless you specify not to (or unless you start it in offline mode).
