Well, really, gaming has changed, not necessarily in a bad way, but it has changed. I'm an RPG and platformer fan (primarily Crash and Spyro, which became only average after Sierra took on both projects) and big RPG's that are truly good (Star Ocean 2, FFX, FFXII, Kingdom Hearts series (technically action-rpg)) are few and far between. Those who are good are always as good, and age never hinders a true gamer. However, focus on special genres has expanded, for instance on shooters. Not saying they're bad, but for every good one, there are two only decent ones. Possibly, though, we felt a stronger sense of fascination for games, and our standards are rapidly climbing because of it. Game taste is also a factor, I am for example a rather open gamer, but others, like a friend of mine, are more focused on particular genres. Well, lets just hope we never stop loving games.:)
