If you think you will like a game which involves socialising, teamwork, and building up your character over a long period of time I would say go for it. Current MMOs which I would recommend are:

- Eve Online (huge space-based MMO)
- Guild Wars (free fantasy MMO - focuses on PvP)
- World of Warcraft (fantasy MMO - one of the best)
- Tabula Rasa (newish FPS sci-fi MMO)

All of them have a free trial except for Guild Wars I think. There is a ton of new MMOs scheduled to come out over the next couple of years. The most anticipated would be Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, and Pirates of the Burning Sea.

If you like shooters as well as RPGs you might want to give Tabula Rasa a try. Its an MMO which is a cross between an RPG and a FPS. It's been getting semi-decent reviews, and some WoW players have been switching to it. Because it has only recently been launched there are currently a few things that need improvement, but most MMOs are like this at launch. Maybe wait until the first main patch. The main drawback is the $15 a month fee - but if you can afford it then well worth the shot IMO.

Tabula Rasa is all right if you want a fast-paced MMO.

I wouldn't build a computer myself unless you really know what you are doing. Sure you save a bit of money, but I don't think you get a decent warranty when you build it yourself, and something could always go wrong.

Thanks for checking. Looks like I'll stick to us.gamespot.com for the moment.

As I said in the other thread I wrote my top 10 list is not updating.... but that thread go locked for some reason :( It might be restricted to the PC top 10 - I'm not sure - but there's definately a problem for me. Oh, by the way, the rest of the page is updating daily for me (au.gamespot.com/pc/). I have cleared my Internet Explorer cache. Could it be a problem with my ISPs proxy??? Or could it be a problem with Gamespot.AU only?? (I am Australian). Please don't lock the thread, or at least give some possible solutions.

This is the list I am seeing, which is different from the screenshot the other guy posted. It hasn't changed for months.

Hi

I swear that the top 10 list of most popular titles has not updated for about 3 months - at least in the PC section which I check most days. It has been 1. Bioshock 2. Crysis 3. Spore....... 10. Oblivion for god knows how long now. I'm sure it must be something wrong with gamespot because I can't believe that titles like The Witcher and Hellgate : London wouldn't currently be in the top 10. And why would a game like Oblivion even be in the top 10? (released 2006).

There's probably not a lot of difference between those 2. By the way, the FX5500 is a VERY outdatedcard by today's standards... why are you considering buying one? And the Nvidia FX series has quite a bad reputation too :(

Yes an 8600GTS would be a significant improvement over a 8500. But it's probably not worth your money to use 2x 8600GTS in SLI - you'd be better off buying a single 8800 (GTS or GTX).
