So im on to uncharted 2 now and I feel a lot more positive towards this one. The story has some depth and twists to it and the level design is amazing compared to Drakes Fortune. These 2 aspects help draw my attention away from the frustrating controls i.e. taking cover when i want to dodge, dodging when i want to take cover, and the way the camera angle makes platforming unnecessarily difficult. The enemy ai seems less likely to charge you like they have swords insteads of guns also. In the first one EVERY SINGLE enemy would just sprint to where u were hiding. Rediculous. I guess these improvements are why Among Thieves got GOTY.

Uncharted 1's difficulty modes are somewhat unbalanced compared to Uncharted 2. Easy is easy as, and Normal if forgiving, but Hard and Crushing have some huge leaps in difficulty. Also, enemies take more shots to kill in Uncharted 1 than in 2. There's also a larger focus on arena fights, which pretty much demands trial and error. Even though you have your back covered a lot of the time, it doesn't take a lot for all enemy types to flank you quickly. The main rule is to play it Gears of War style and constantly duck, roll and cover. And remember where the tougher enemies spawn from so you can take them out before they become a hassle. In Uncharted 1 you can spam rolling to avoid enemy fire. ;)HellsAngel2c
Yes, this is the only way to get through the game. I just didnt enjoy how the game forces you to spam roll all over the damn place.

Drakes Fortune was probably one of the most frustrating games i have ever played and I love demon souls and dark souls so im not afraid of challenge just a poorly executed one. almost every encounter I died at least twice and there were four or five that took me over 20 tries on normal. The church area in chapter 20 especially. There are so many enemies that if u miss a shot that shouldve killed someone it opens an opportunity for the three enemies that are just outside your field of view to charge and blow u to shit with a m71 at point blank. I try to retreat back a few pews and go to enter cover and because the controls are so clunky i end up taking cover on the opposite side as my enemy walks up and shoots me in the face. This game has a very bland story and the level design and atmosphere are nothing new so u think the game's focus would then fall on gameplay but gameplay is its worst aspect. Its almost as if Naughty Dog thought the story was so good they didnt need to fine tune the gameplay. And Aliens? wtf?
