I have FIOS and it has GREAT download speeds, but the ping on most servers is around 70-100... not bad but not great. When I had DSL a few years ago it was about the same latency so you'll be fine if your using a DSL connection.
Halo 3 is a GREAT game and if some people don't realize it, good for them. Halo 3 is the best if not in the top 3 shooters on Xbox 360. The replayability is almost unlimited with the playlists, theater, forge, new maps, great matchmaking system..etc.. the gameplay is awesome imo.
The only people who don't like it just don't get it.
