It's an interesting concept. Of course, on the computer it sounds like a variation of steam, and I sort of doubt cloud computing would work on a massive scale with video games (which are massive resource hogs), but it certainly sounds nice in theory. Though I'm not sure what would stop Sony and Microsoft from running an identical service through their consoles with first partie games I don't think it 'll replace consoles, but hopefully, it will pressure Sony and Microsoft to ramp up their online offerings. I'm sick of downloads taking me an eternity. Here's to hoping the little thing helps the industry as a whole.

When the japanese market crashes, nintendo will be first to go. Its stocks are getting way too volatile.

My PS3's been fine. I have seven friends with a 360, and all but two of them have stopped playing them and don't plan to until Halo comes out (which, be honest, is the only reason people should buy a 360); by contrast, the half of dozen or so people I know who have purchased a Wii love it, but don't play it more than an hour or two a week. I know, especially on a site and industry where EVERYTHING has to be a competition, but did people ever consider the fact that maybe consoles should be different? And as for the editors' demands, most of them are a joke; 'sony should lose another 200 dollars to make the ps3 more appealing.' What? Would you like to lose an ADDITIONAL 200 x 1,000,000 dollars? Wait a year, when good games finally come out, and the price can drop so it'll be in your price range, and then you'll have no reason to complain. If you want new technology now, you're going to have to deal with the quirks. For Christ's Sake, does anyone not realize God of War 2 is coming out soon? Despite the incessant uproar of braindead nintendo fanboys, there has not been any truly superb game yet on our beloved next generation.

I have an idea! If you want to play all of your PS2 games. . .buy a PS2! Like they said, they only cost 95 bucks now. You should be buying a PS3 to play PS3 games, not to play your playstation 1 and 2 games. This is more or less what Microsoft did with the 360 (except not as bad), so it's kind of moot to begin with. Now if you're going to b**** and moan about the price and the awful supply, well, then you've got a point.

"Superzone Hahahaha!................................................ Sony is going to lose this next gen war. Microsoft and Nintendo are going to kick Sony out of the business. If anyone here is considering a PS3 for purchase, PLEASE don't buy one. Get a Wii or an Xbox 360 instead. Paying $500 or $600 for the PS3 just won't be worth it. " Funny, I didn't think it was possible for people to predict the future. Maybe you should stop wasting your time posting on boards and make a career out of your extraordinary foresight, oh great seer. OR- and this is just me applying logic, here- you are just projecting what you want onto reality. "I would be far happier to spend £5000 on a pc with equal ps3 hardware because a pc is entirely more functional, can actually EARN ME MONEY, and it is more of an investment than UST an entertainment system." Um, the hardware in the PS3 isn't WORTH that kind of money. If you're just using a computer for business, you can get yourself a cheap desktop for 500-700 dollars, and it'll serve you just fine for the next four years. If someone is going to buy the PS3, it's for media (which, consequently, is what makes highend PCs so expensive). "Ps3/pc.. no way. Pc's dont even belong in this topic! Especially if you think about if hddvd becomes THE format for pc's.. " I really fail to see how the next gen war would be relevant to PCs. . . companies are STILL using CDs to hold information rather than DVDs, so what makes you think there is any program (short of some supercomputer based algoritham system) that could occupy more than 9 gigs? Plus, does that fact that by mid 07 there will be three computer manufacturers (Sony, Dell, and HP) that will be including bluray drives into their computers, vs. the HD-DVD camp's only supporter (toshiba) mean anything?

Anyone remember how Microsoft claimed that the 360 would have equal penetration in the japanese market as the PS3 would? Wrong. Company executives and press releases aren't always right, so there's no surpirse here.

as with everything outside of the us and japan, the technology costs more in other places. Xbox 360 was over priced in europe as well, not because they're trying to scam the people, but because its out of the way from their production and manufacturing centers, meaning more time and money goes into getting them there. As expensive as it is, i wouldn't be the least surprised if a standalone blueray player costs double what the expensive ps3 does. Besides, the only people who buy the console initially are the hardcore supporters, and so such a price change doesn't make much of difference to that audience.
