Mines frozen a few times (I have the 60GB launch version) but latley is has done a weird thing when I turn it on with the controller. The controller won;t "sinc" up and flashes red. Then If I use the other controller I can play but not shut the PS3 down, even if i use the 1/0 switch on the console. I had to turn it off at the main switch on the back of the unit. This has hapened twice so far and is a wory when it hapens coz you think "Oh damn where we go".
Listen I realize that technology changes but for example on PC, games are pushing the standard for graphics with each release and if you dont upgrade your video card every 6 months you are hosed. Take Doom 3 for example. When that came out it was built for absolute top notch cards, but that type of advancement doesnt apply for a consol that doesnt have an upgradeable video card. So back to my question...is it safe to say that a game developed 2 years ago will have the same graphical quality as a game developed this year or is it possible to have a game for the same consol have better graphics?
And btw, for those that like just surfing the net just to insult people that post questions...eat my ass or dont reply. Bitc*!

No a game developed two years ago for the same console (dependant on Dev skills) will not look the same as a game developed this year. And yes it is possible to have a franchised game i.e. Resistance look much better and have better mechanics on the same console. Why? Because Devs get to know the workings of the hardware and can exploit it much more. Will the PS3 ever reach its full potential? That is THE question. Oh and try not to insult posters, it never makes you look good. Attack the post not the poster ;)
Hmmm... where have you been all this time? Have you not noticed that this is how ALL technology rolls? Name me one piece of tech that has not chnged, improved or been optimized in human history. Maybe you should just freeze yourself and come back in 200 years and buy a game then.
I'm not trying to diss the game (or it's fans) I just want to hear why it is the greatest game you ever played. For me the story was not compelling enough for me to sit through it, though I was touched by some of the later scenes.
I'd like to hear why people love it so much not just stating that they do. And more interestingly why people like me are not that thrilled.
Me? Leave it. For me there was waaaay to much boring cut scenes and not enough gameplay. The story was silly and I was skipping cut scenes on my first play through. I'm struggling on my second play through and I personally had more fun with MGS3. The game is good and I like the way I can choose how to play it to a certain degree but I think that maybe my hopes were to high.
I'd like to hear from others that feel the same way. As for the fans of the game feel free to point out what you think is good about it and how it has moved forward besides the online component.
Play with the display setings in the system setings menue on the PS3. Or hold the I/O button on the PS3 down for 5 seconds until you hear it peep three times, this will optimize it to the best display for your conections (HDMI).
For resolution 720p is beter than 1080i and 1080p is the best. I may be wrong but all 720p sets suport 1080i and 1080p, they do not display 1080i or p but downscale it. If the TV says "HD ready" its a 720p set. If it says "full HD" its a 1080p set. simple.
FFXVIII big deal! Not everyone wants to "play level up" and watch the cut scene to the lame story type games! Like it's the end of the world for SONY over one game!? Man some of you wishy washy PS3 owners make me sick. Go ahead and sell your console. I'm still happy with mine and I don't even bother comparing it to the other one. Man I wonder if the other consoles owners are such cry baby's coz all I ever see on the PS3 forums is complaining.
On topic, no I'm not excited about tomorrow. At best it will be interesting to see whats coming and at worst it will be a disappointment. But if it is a disappointment you won't see me on here having a sook coz I have a life that dosn't just revolve around my game console.
I haven't downloaded it yet and after the previous F.W. update I'm adopting a "wait and see" policy before I download any future updates. It's scary owning a console this gen.
