Bioware - Enough said. Their RPGs are simply epic, and they are some of the best storytellers in the business. The Mass Effect series gets the nod from me for one of the most mesmerizing stories in a game, period.

I also love Nintendo. They've made some incredibly stupid decisions over the years, but Mario and Zelda are the greatest game franchises ever.

Age of Empires. I was really hoping I could play Age of Mythology 2 some day, but since Ensemble Studios is no more, it looks like that will never happen.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the best game ever made.

I think the current generation is the best generation, although I still love all the old classics. Games are really starting to prove themselves as works of art I think due to not only all the things they can do now with new technology, but also due to the increased emphasis on story-telling, and the availability of more indie games thanks to Xbox Live, PSN, and Wiiware.

Oh, and, by the way, the tech tree in Civ V is completely broken. I can't think of the exact tech path off the top of my head, but you can use great scientists to do some crazy slingshots that would be impossible in Civ IV.

Because regardless of the map or leaders, it's always a good idea to exploit maritime city states, build lots of cities, and attack with horseman.

I've completed most of the mainstream Mario and Zelda games, and I've completed at least one of the Pokemon games from every generation besides the latest one, but I don't think I've completed an entire series other than the shorter, newer ones like Mass Effect.

I believe that the Dream World in Pokemon Black and White allows for more interaction between players, but we'll never see a real Pokemon MMO until Nintendo gets a clue and makes a functional online system.
