So System Shock 2 is finally on Steam (and on a discount, too), so naturally I picked it up. But I have this thing where I can't play a sequel without playing the first game, er.. first. But System Shock one, how can I put it... didn't age well, in terms of controls mostly. And from what I gather, SS1 wasn't nearly as good as SS2 (hell, people tend to forget there even was an SS1 =P). But is it worth going through it for the sake of the plot, and the connection to SS2? Or is the plot summary on Wikipedia is the better option?

Weird question, I know, but what can I say...

This seems biased...

I just get that feeling.

Gee, what gave you that idea.

Interesting, but the graphics card has only 1 HDMI connector (TV's connected w/ HDMI, the monitor w/ DVI)...

Yeah, there was a little black/blue cable (forgot its proper name) that connected the GPU to the motherboard. Can't do that with the 560, though, it doesn't have the little port for the cable like the 275.

And shame. It's a bit annoying having to switch between the two. Oh well, no big deal.

SO, here's the story - I've got a new graphics card (GTX 560), and now when I connect my TV through HDMI I have to choose if the audio plays on the TV or on the PC, depending on the audio driver (NVIDIA for the TV, Realtek drivers for the PC)... It's either one or the other. The thing is, with my old graphics card (GTX 275), I had the audio play simultaniously on both devices. So the question is can I get the sound to work on both devices at the same time again?

I'm... not exactly sure what you guys mean by "bottleneck" :P I take it you mean that I should upgrade the CPU asap as well..?

In the meantime, the 560 sounds like what I want. Thanks for the help.

Funny you should suggest the 560 TI, I've been browsing a few PC hardware stores and I had my eye on it because it costs less than half what the high-end 600 series cards cost. Thanks for the tip.

And I'm from Israel. So that's another thing I need to deal with - everything's more expensive here :P. Even the 560 costs ~300$ when converted to dollars...

A follow up question - what would be better for gaming, a high(ish)-end 500 series (like the GTX560 ti) or low-end 600 series (GT620)? Because the 620 costs a lot less...

And a follow-up follow-up question - is there a big difference in performance between the GTX550 TI and the GTX560 TI? Because the price difference is pretty significant.

I don't live in the US, so I couldn't give you an accurate price in dollars. I was looking more for a comparison between the different models. As for my specs:

Intel Core2Duo E8400 3.0 GHz

4GB DDR2 RAM

Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR motherboard

Windows XP (yeha, yeah, I know, I should get 7 already, but I really can't stand it)

I built the PC new 3 years ago, so the rest of it is pretty old too, but I figure it can still last a year or so. The GPU - not so much.

So my faithful GTX 275 that has served me for the last 3 years (bought it in '09) is finally showing signs of struggle, and I think it's time to upgrade. Thing is, price is kind of an issue for me, so I'm looking for a fairly high-perfirmance graphics card (preferrably one that will also last 3 years), but at a reasonable price... Any advice on which card to get? I would prefer to stick with nVidia, btw, I have absolutely 0 experience with Radeon.

PS If it isn't clear, the card is for my gaming PC, so performance is a big consideration, along with the price.

Personally, I lost all interest when Guillermo Del Toro dropped out and Jackson signed in. Because if LotR is any indication (and it is), the movie(s) is going to be bloody tedious to watch.
