Sure if you go out and try to buy a pre built gaming pc, yeah those are costly but I purchased a new computer from wal-mart for about $300 bucks 5 years ago (by the way, you do realize that computers come bundled with mouse, keyboard and monitors most of the time right?). Shortly after that I got a geforce 8800 gts used for less than $200.
That setup allowed me to play every game I wanted at the highest settings for years. Just last year I upgraded the ram from 4 to 8gigs and got a geforce 660 ti for less than $200 and now that 5 year old pc runs any game I throw at it like a boss and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. I also own an xbox 360 but honestly MOST games that are released for it also get a better, sometimes cheaper steam release.
You are right about the jrpg's but I'm not a big fan of those and if I was, I have my 360 for that. So just because new hardware is released regularly doesn't mean your current pc it "outdated". Saying pc's need to be upgraded monthly is a very strong exaggeration that I felt the need to address as that is simply not the truth. PC gaming isn't for everybody but since most people already own a pc and depending on what you already have in it, all you would need to game on it is a mid ranged video card it becomes a very attractive option.
@Sevenizz @TehUndeadHorror One mans gold is another man's dirt or something like that. X1's launch lineup sucks hard imo. PS4 has a few that I'm interested in but overall the introduction to "next gen" has been disappointing to say the least.
