Red Dead Redemption

RDR is my favorite game because I love westerns and they made such a believable world around the wild west fantasy. The mechanics were perfect and the story was long and filled with an incredible cast of characters. The story was wonderfully written and the soundtrack was great too. The side missions were all really amusing and clever. The multi-player is pretty fun for a bit as well but the story is the reason I love RDR so much.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

GTA SA is brilliantly written like RDR and it has my other favorite area of pop culture which revolves around gangstas in the ghetto committing crimes to stay alive. Like RDR the story is long and all the characters are awesome (except for a few bland mob bosses). I think this game is similar to GTA V in that it pushed the current console to it's limit graphically and I respect that a lot. And finally, Samuel L. Jackson was the villain! That's rad.

Unreal Tournament 2004

When it comes to good multiplayer, I think this is way more fun than cod. I always played against computers but regardless it was a lot of fun. There were seemingly endless maps and all the weapons were cool and futuristic. The plot was simple but there were so many characters to play as. You could download character skins, new weapons and new maps which made it much more interesting.

Bully

This game is like RDR and GTASA because the story is really well written. It's not as long as they are but the atmosphere is brilliantly constructed. It's a stereotypical boarding school in which you can prank people and bully anyone you want and slowly gain popularity with each high school clique. Fantastic

TimeSplitters 2

Timesplitters 2 seemlessly mixes past weaponry with present and sci-fi future weaponry and a ridiculous amount of playable characters. It played really well and was a good bit of fun

Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005)

This is where star wars games peaked in my opinion. Playing as a storm trooper takes away any personal attachment which allows for a perfect multiplayer experience. The maps were awesome and it was cool to play as Jedi.

Fallout 3

This game is cool to me because it has all the elements of a fantasy RPG but it's set in a science fiction world. I sunk upwards of 200 hours into this game. Fallout New Vegas improved on every gameplay aspect of this game but not in atmosphere or story which is why I don't include it. I use the game of the year edition just because this game is lengthened even more with the DLCs.

Grand Theft Auto V

This is the last game on my list because while it was fantastic and I have another 200 hours to sink into it before I'm sick of it, it was a mild let down. I may have had expected too much but there just wasn't enough story. Also I don't feel that Franklin has an interesting storyline. Trevor and Micheal were cool characters but like I said, the story is really short when compared to GTA IV and really impersonal and uninspired when compared to GTA SA. Every mission was exciting and well-written dialogue-wise but it just ended suddenly. The map is extensive and beautiful but it isn't completely utilized. There isn't any use of the jail, the stadium or the casino. The DLC has big shoes to fill I think.
