John Morrison def. R-Truth to earn a WWE Title opportunity

Warning: Smoking may cause loss of WWE Title opportunity. After securing a spot last week in the Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules along with WWE Champion The Miz and John Cena, R-Truth came out in London's O2 Arena to celebrate.

He was greeted by John Morrison, however, who unveiled footage from last week's match of the rapping Superstar chugging water, sucking wind and appearing out of shape. The Shaman of Sexy derided his former tag team partner for his smoking habit and challenged him for his position in the title match.

Truth accepted – a decision he would regret when Morrison prevailed and the rapping Superstar watched his title hopes go up in smoke. Afterward, a bitter Truth mercilessly attacked his opponent and, at one point, even grabbed cigarettes from an audience member and blew smoke in Morrison's face.

Dolph Ziggler def. Evan Bourne

Perhaps there's validity to the old adage that "hair makes the man." Debuting a "new and improved" look, Dolph Ziggler unveiled his freshly trimmed, brunette coif just before facing Evan Bourne. As his business associate, Vickie Guerrero, cheered him on, the updated Ziggler clipped Bourne's wings and pinned him for the victory.

John Cena & Sin Cara def. WWE Champion The Miz & Alex Riley

Even in England, The Miz continues to be the biggest of royal pains. The WWE Champion whined on and on about John Morrison replacing R-Truth in his Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules. During the temper tantrum, WWE's latest sensation, Sin Cara, approached the ring to prepare for his match with Miz's lackey, Alex Riley. Soon after, John Cena joined the fray as Raw's anonymous General Manager quickly interrupted and arranged a tag team match pitting Cena & Sin Cara against Miz & Riley.

The Cenation Commander-in-Chief softened up his Extreme Rules rival as well as Riley. Sin Cara then used his acrobatic antics against Riley, who succumbed to the international wonder with a three-count.

Eve def. Nikki Bella

After Twin Magic cost her the Divas Championship last week, Eve appeared eager to make one of The Bellas disappear. As Nikki faced the Latina lovely, her sister and current Divas Champion, Brie Bella, looked on with great interest. This week, however, The Bellas lost their magic – and underhanded – touch. Instead, Eve toppled Nikki with ease and let it be known to Brie that she would be gunning to reclaim the butterfly title.

Michael Cole got "knighted"

Sir Michael Cole? Sounds about as plausible as "Grammy-winner R-Truth," right? Well, the cheese-eating announcer had his Extreme Rules tag team partner, Jack Swagger, join him as a woman, who looked vaguely like the Queen of England, entered the ring and allegedly knighted him.

Afterward, Cole and Swagger provoked their Extreme Rules opponents, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. "Sir Cole" commanded The All-American American to attack, prompting him to toss Lawler over the announce table and forcing Good Ol' J.R. to kiss Cole's feet. Yes, his feet!

U.S. Champion Sheamus def. Santino Marella

The last time Raw broadcast from London, Santino Marella had invited U.S. Champion Sheamus for tea and embarrassed The Celtic Warrior. This time, however, the Irishman was in no mood for a cup of Earl Grey. Instead, he forced the Italian to choke down a heaping helping of humility.

One week before the WWE Draft, Sheamus showed his dominance for all of England and the world to see by making quick work of the recently ascendant Santino.

Randy Orton def. CM Punk

Who knew The Viper could play possum so well? As tensions continue to mount between Randy Orton and CM Punk, the two met head on in the night's explosive main event. Fierce competitors, The Viper and The Second City Savior traded blows as well as momentum throughout the bout. In the end, Orton turned the tables on his preachy opponent and capitalized for the win. Unfortunately for Orton, The New Nexus crashed the victory party.

Punk's New Nexus disciples surrounded the ring and closed ranks around their prey. After pummeling Orton and leaving him seemingly unconscious on the canvas, The New Nexus cleared a path for Mason Ryan to deliver the final nail in the coffin. The Second City Savior waved him off, though, intent on punishing Orton himself. As he steamed toward the lifeless body, however, WWE's Apex Predator snapped to life. He leveled Punk with a shocking RKO before slithering from the ring and leaving The New Nexus stunned and scrambling for answers.

So much heat on Sin Cara.  He should have kept his mouth shut.

Curious about Nexus's new role now

Five-Man Gauntlet Match arranged

There's no shortage of ambition in WWE. When John Cena expressed interest in battling WWE Champion The Miz again for another opportunity at the title, four other Superstars quickly joined the chorus, including Randy Orton, John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth.

Each man made their case for a title opportunity, until the anonymous Raw General Manager intervened. The GM debuted a new concept, a Five-Man Gauntlet Match, initially pitting two randomly selected Superstars and allowing the winner to continue on to face the next random opponent. The Superstar who can go the distance would become the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship and will face The Miz at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Brie Bella def. Divas Champion Eve

In Italian, Bella means "beautiful." In WWE, though, it's come to mean something downright ugly. In her match against Divas Champion Eve, Brie Bella resorted to lowdown trickery to capture the Butterfly Title. After she and her sister, Nikki, failed to capitalize with "Twin Magic," Brie took advantage when her twin nonetheless distracted Eve long enough for her to pin the lovely Latina.

Sin Cara def. Primo

A week after wowing the WWE Universe with a high-altitude debut, Sin Cara cemented his international celebrity status with an impressive victory over Primo. During the high-flying bout, his Puerto Rican opponent used some pretty punishing chops. The masked Superstar, however, flipped the script on Primo and nailed him with one last inspired aerial from atop the turnbuckle.

The Corre def. "The Apple"

Santino Marella enlisted three Superstar allies to exploit emerging cracks in The Corre once and for all. The Italian introduced "The Apple," or Allied People Powered by Loathing Everything (The Corre stands for), consisting of Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry & Evan Bourne.

Unfortunately for the newly formed foursome, The Corre took a bite out of their alliance, overcoming their differences to suppress The Apple onslaught.

Jerry "The King" Lawler def. Jack Swagger; Extreme Rules match announced

Michael Cole is the only undefeated Superstar on the WWE roster. Crazy? You bet. The "rat bastard" broadcaster's perfect record of 1-0 will be on the line again, however, when he teams with Jack Swagger against Jerry "The King" Lawler & Jim Ross in a tag team match at Extreme Rules.

Lawler was allowed to name the match after defeating The All-American American in singles competition. As he and Swagger faced off, Good Ol' J.R. and Cole looked on from their respective corners. Ross assisted his longtime friend with a well-timed distraction, allowing King to win, and prompting Cole to slap Swagger. As the cowardly announcer scurried off, his WWE Hall of Famer rival gleefully dropped his Extreme Rules bombshell.

World Heavyweight Champion Edge announced his retirement

The illustrious career of 11-time World Champion Edge has come to an end. The Rated-R Superstar told the WWE Universe that, due to injury, he can no longer compete in the ring and will retire from competition.

After more than 13 years, The Ultimate Opportunist went out on top as the reigning World Heavyweight Champion - and offered an emotional farewell to his legion of admirers and fellow Superstars.

Five-Man Gauntlet Match ended with R-Truth and John Cena in a Double Disqualification; Extreme Rules match arranged

Five Superstars. One opportunity. The math added up to one grueling Five-Man Gauntlet Match as John Cena, R-Truth, John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton vied for the opportunity to compete against WWE Champion The Miz at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

First up in the random selection, Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler squared off. During their match, members of The New Nexus, sans CM Punk, distracted The Viper long enough for Ziggler to wrap up a pin. Afterward, the men who had each been punted in the skull by Orton, lashed his beaten frame with a vengeful ferocity.

Entering next, R-Truth showed the bleach blond bomber what was up by eliminating him in fourth place. Truth's former tag team partner, John Morrison, then jumped into the action. Leveraging his familiarity with The Shaman of Sexy, the rapping Superstar overcame the athletic assault.

Finally, it was John Cena's turn. The Cenation Commander-in-Chief set aside his friendship with Truth and assailed him with a barrage of heavy hits. To his credit, though, Truth held steady, unwilling to relinquish the golden opportunity before him. As the two traded blows, however, they were attacked by WWE Champion The Miz and his lackey, Alex Riley, leading to a double disqualification.

Although the WWE Champion claimed there was no No. 1 contender, the Raw General Manager had other ideas. The anonymous GM announced that there were now two No. 1 contenders for the WWE Championship and that the match at Extreme Rules would be a Triple Threat Match between WWE Champion The Miz, Truth and Cena. Afterward, The Cenation Commander-in-Chief punished Riley, and Truth tackled Miz. Then the rapping Superstar and Cena found themselves in a shoving match before Truth exited the ring.
