It's really ridiculous how rude some people are being about your post. I agree with you, and even if I didn't I wouldn't bash you for saying it was the best ever unless you were being really rude about it.

I beat the game with 93 stars and never came back. To me, it became really repetitive. At first I was amazed by the level design and just how creative the game was overall, but eventually the novelty of this wore off. This only left the gameplay which was barely above acceptable.

So, in short, you are not alone.

I rarely buy games unless they are recommended by someone/a few people I trust, or they look interesting and get really solid reviews. If No More Heroes gets really nice reviews I'll probably buy it. I'll probably rent it at some point anyway unless the reviews are just that bad...

What makes it not an FPS? If anyone can give me a solid reason then fine, but this guy just said it's because it's an "adventure". Most shooters these days are adventures. The only difference I see is that in MP3 you couldn't pick up other guns (which is fine since it's metroid) and the shooting just wasn't that good (to me). So, to me, it sounds like the only reason that people claim it is something else is to prevent people from comparing other shooters to it.

Half Life 2 is an adventure in first person that just so happens to have a person who holds a gun. Crysis is an adventure in first person that just so happens to have a person who holds a gun. Unreal Tournament is NOT an adventure. Halo is...CoD is...so I guess we can start calling most shooters FPA or FPSA (the better name of the two) from now on?

Are people calling MP3 an FPA because the shooting element in the game is so weak?

To me all of that is part of the fun. After playing Zelda, and the sort of games that were inspired by it, playing games like SMG just really doesn't feel like a complete experience. Platformers just can't be as fun to me anymore because they feel like they are missing so much.

Part of it is the fact that they are hiding behind the internet, but there's something else that I've noticed. It's getting more and more ridiculous to be a white male these days. If you aren't a white male you are allowed to say whatever you want about other people (especially white males), and it's ok. You're allowed to be proud of what you are, and it's ok. If you are a white male you aren't allowed to say anything negative towards someone who is "different" than you, because you are being some sort of "ist", and you sure as heck better not be proud of the fact that you are white and/or male. That's completely not allowed these days. I'd say a lot of these kids on the internet don't know how to deal with this sort of thing and this is their way of dealing with it.

I like Steven4k5's way of dealing with it. It's better to basically ignore them in this way, because they want you to get angry. Also, the next time you hear kids spouting this crap remember that this is their only way to retaliate to the socially acceptable (for some stupid reason) rascism that they have to put up with. So, you should probably feel a little sorry for them.

But it's accurate. It is relevant to today's industry because it's arguably the most fun series of all time. Fun is all that really matters in games; innovation doesn't necessarily mean fun (although when it does it's very nice).

I could sure go for a nice realistic jump. After playing WoW I just don't feel right if I can't jump in a game.
