From what I gather the specs for the Ouya aren't anything overly special and will probably be outdone by the Ps4, next Xbox, probably even the Wii U? although I'm not 100% on this. So chances are this console, the Ouya, won't be well supported by the big developers, but seems like for the indie scene it will be great. However I think what is being talked about here is how the big hardware makers, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, deal with distribution and ease of development will be affected and how they will have to maybe change is some aspects. Also the market for a dedicated console is still huge, I'm guessing, as tablets/phones won't be able to compete with the new ones, or the PC, untill the next generation is coming to an end again.

Personally, and obviously this is just my experiance, but the most pure gaming fun I have had with this generation of consoles is either playing SMG or DKC:R, easily two of the best games I have played and I have no problem saying that, although I weill also admit that I am a huge DK fanboy haha. I have all the consoles, luckily, and although the 360 is probably my primary system (due to friends having it) and the ps3 is probably my overall favourite (I'm also a huge Metal Gear fanboy and I havn't even played 4 yet! havn't had the ps3 long, so maybe this opinion will change) the Wii has still provided me with more than enough fun for its price.
Quick edit: I would also say it is the best of the current generation for local multiplayer too, just my opinion though.

How come the gears 3 beta was a demo, even though it occurred in april/may? Surely it too was a slightly older build? However I agree, I'm sure the battlefield beta will be used to clear out many of the glitches currently found. Also your dig and generalisation of console gamers is very nice....
This guy should concentrate on making games and not talking like he's some expert on technology. Noone is ready for next gen yet. WiiU is a glorified 360 with Ipad remote so that's not next gen. 720/PS4 CANNOT be machines with simple amall memory and GPU upgrades, they have to perform at a level that exceeds the most powerul commercial PC's today. Naive developer is Naive.

Funny how you say he's talking like a technology expert and then go on to talk like some WiiU expert that somehow knows the official specs of it to be able to call it a glorified 360.
