@xsonicchaos: I enjoy games like Dark Souls, Monster Hunter, Minecraft, Don't Starve, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and anything with non-linear progression and free roam.
No, I don't have any numbers that would support it, I do however know it is the main argumentation against raising the budget on voice acting coming from big companies like EA.
I also know an average developer is paid only little above 40k in annual salary, while there can be as many as 1000 voice actors per project. If you are fine with the rest of the production budget going down the toilet because voice actors are now suddenly eligible for royalties and residuals more so than the people who actually made the game then go for it.
@Slash_out: How would it go if the enjoyable quests in the games you enjoy suddenly would be less enjoyable ? How would it be if the captivating visuals and level designs would be dumbed down to reused assets splattered all over the map ? How would it be if the gameplay mechanics were not compelling at all ?
Game developers who make your games enjoyable are less entitled to royalties and residual pay than voice actors ?
@xsonicchaos: Yes I do game, I don't play story driven games. I want my games to have good art and level design as well as compelling gameplay and deep gameplay mechanics. I can't care less about storytelling.
I found TLOU to be a mediocre game and skipped most of its cutscenes.
