@dmdavenport: There again there's one SS per system and it's a crapshoot if the vendor or trade terminal has the specific, rare resource you need (Spagnolium or however you spell it, for instance).

So you're still going from system to system scanning planets for this one resource and all the while spending credits on fuel resources or hunting those down on planets to keep your hyperdrive going, and next thing you know hours have passed and you've accomplished nothing - the one part of the game I loathe - exploring! (when it should be exactly the opposite)

They really need to lower the cost of travel somehow, and make finding certain resources less tedious/time-consuming.

The single biggest beef I still have with the game is the ridiculous amount of resources it costs just to go from planet to planet or explore in general. I get that it has a survival aspect to it, but having to literally search solar systems for a single type of resource just to build some mundane piece of my base is so incredibly tedious and mind-numblingly boring, that I just end-up quitting and not caring.

I like skirting death venturing out on a planet looking for plutonium - when you find a good stash it's great - doesn't last long, but that's ok. It's traveling from system to system (and meanwhile burning through all of your fuel-based resources, then having to do it all over again) that really bothers me. Scanning planets for one particular resource to do one simple, basic thing with your base drives me nuts, I've been to 3-4 different systems, scanned every planet, spent hours re-fueling Plutonium etc.., and still can't find what I need.

That ain't fun or relaxing - it's stupid.

Just so tired of D3, this isn't enough, hate to be "that guy," but I still would rather play D2 any day. Plus this D1 "event" only lasts a month.

@computernoises: No. It's still a small indie game without a lot to do - the base-building is limited (cool, but quite limited) and space serves no real purpose other than some random mining and traveling or teleporting to another space station or planet.

Maybe that $60 price tag is what is enabling them to keep adding to the game now, otherwise it's a $20-$30 game still, at best.

It's definitely better, but it wears-off fast still - bases are limited in size and you can only build one at a time (you can transfer them to another planet). So once you get over that new perk, you're back to grinding and the horrible galactic map, and, I guess, trying to get to the "center of the galaxy, universe" whatevs.

Creative mode is just that - no real cost for anything and you just build and move - ships cost nothing, etc.., Can other players see your base if they play in another mode? Dunno.

Without any real space component or point to the game - it still just gets boring too quickly.

They still have a lot of work to do, to make it more interesting. It's got such great potential, but is still so lonely and barren, I just don't see how it will ever hold people's interest for long unless they really carve the thing up.

Another thoughtful addition - flying and landing your ship around relatively small areas of a large scale planet is tedious, whereas driving a buggy over terrain like that seems much more appealing and convenient.

The ability to teleport from a discovered Space Station to any established/built base on a planet is actually a big deal that eliminates a bunch of monotony.

The recruited builders who sit at consoles on your base give you quests to find resources that help you focus on something and build upgrades for your base.

Base building is actually pretty fun, but the limitations (the whole thing feels similar to Fallout 4) are a little disappointing - you can still build a pretty big base and customize it with all kinds of stuff, but I wanted to build a small city - no go once "complexity" reaches 99%. Adding a Storage Container to your base is nice - but only 5 slots (not aware of any upgrades and I could only place one in a base).

The economy has changed also - you get more out of less generally speaking now - makes the game less frustrating.

Planets seem to have more varied resources and animals.

Graphics are noticeably nicer.

I shot-up a freighter for resources and took out its turrets - no big deal but I can see where they're going with it in space - need more space combat and pirating next.

Finally I built a few landing pads on my base and not 5 minutes later a pilot landed a sweet gold ship down on it and I bought it (Creative mode it's free) - instant speed/weapons/storage upgrade, very cool. Haven't seen that model of ship yet, but the design is awesome, a keeper.

Again - waiting for space updates - just not enough to do in space and the space stations are ghost towns when they should be teeming with some sort of activity and more variety. Adding the 2-3 techs to the stations is a start, not nearly enough of course.

Gave the patch a shot - it's nice, still haven't gotten into everything yet, as the monotony of finding inventory slot upgrades still exists. I started out on an already-discovered planet (BraunBeard was there before me) which was odd - if not intentional now? (not sure)

I built a base and noticed gold is worth a lot more (but certain parts are much more now, while resources are the same, but now much cheaper to buy).

Graphics are a bit nicer, ran into a whole slew of different creatures on just 2 planets - you get more cash for reporting and uploading discovered creatures and places now I noticed as well. The creatures looked awesome, especially the large ones, much more varied.

There's all kinds of different stuff, but the real test for the game will be improving and deepening the options in space. Impressive start really.
