@dondemcforge: Why, exactly? Epic is more developer-friendly and are forcing Steam to stop acting like a monopoly. I do not understand the loyalty to Steam. In fact my GoG.com game library has grown a hundred times faster than my Steam library over the last few years, because Steam still wants to use their blasted DRM as well as not pay developers/publishers a greater share of revenue.

Another samey corporate game for kids' with their parents' money that want to shoot each other online. Looks and feels so much like Destiny it's stupid. Same with Far Cry. Stop buying these polished turds and dig deeper, just like you have to do with music today, to find something that's actually good.

But, I understand little Jimmy wants what all the other kids are playing after school. Because they can no longer think for themselves, and are driven by marketing hype.

Playing this in 2017..now more than 17 years after this review was written. Another game from the year 2000 that might well be the best year of PC gaming ever.

They really went off the rails with this series - first Mafia game I haven't purchased, and never will. What does anything in this game have to do with the original storyline, characters, theme etc..,? It's not a "Mafia" game and should've just been called something else - but they had to make $$ and drag the original, great series through the mud I guess, to do it.

No idea why people buy this stuff. Don't support it.

Oh - you can obviously avoid all that in Creative Mode - you just build and don't worry about acquiring anything basically. If those bases can be shared - kind of disappointing, they should be kept "off the global map" so to speak IMO, there's no challenge to it at all.

@dmdavenport: Well, the Engineers you hire at your base will send you on the tasks to find a specific resource, so that they can provide you with a blueprint so that you can add-on to your base. Finding "that" resource is usually some rare resource on a planet somewhere that is often in another system. I am still trying to figure certain things out regarding resource-hoarding (i.e. I found that mining Iron in space asteroids, and Thalium, is the best way to stock-up by far).

For "spagnium" or whatever it's called (one of the first ones you get sent-off to acquire, found in "cacti" like plants) I traveled to 3 different systems, scanned all of the planets, to no avail, and just got worn out from it). It's the one part of the game I haven't gotten over yet I guess. I enjoy it otherwise, but having a fully-functional base makes life so much easier when you can grow your own rare resources, build a vehicle, etc.., and move it to another planet as-needed).
