[QUOTE="aoshi_shinumori"]i plan on buying a samsung t190. so i just wanted to ask if it's ok to get it for gaming from a crt monitor. because all of the sites that i see regarding a "crt vs lcd" always date back to 2004-2005. i just wanted to ask you guys what is the state of displays now. specially the model i'm planning to buy. thanks!Subcritical

The only shortcoming that LCD's have are backlight bleed thru. It makes the blacks, not so black. Other than that, LCD's have CRT's licked in every other category, except maybe in price too.

Lol CRT's dont have a native res, have perfect viewing angles, higher refresh rates and I could go on really.......

altho i agree with some of your points. But if Mr. Ballmer is telling business' not to upgrade, Imma take that as he does not have confidence in the product and as an individual i will not buy it. Im sorry, but Vista has giving me nothing but problems since Day 1 of its launch and it goes down as one of the worst OS' I have owned in my 20yrs of being on the PC.

I use it for business and pleasure and both ways are not good at all. Its slow and buggy! My old company upgraded for free to Vista and 2 months later dropped it. I dont have 1 friend that uses Vista, they tried it and all dropped it. If windows 7 sucks as bad as Vista, then I will just use it for games and then go back to XP for everything else.

I just wish M$ woudl quit half a$$ing everything they make. From the 360 to Vista its all rushed, doesnt run well and is full of bugs.

Vista is more faster and responsive than XP.

In XP my dual core shows it's limitations when I run a virus scan and lavasoft at the same time and then try to browse the web.In vista I was quite surprised that I could do those 3 things simultaneously quite a bit more smoothly than in XP.

Time your loading time... Xp wins hands down... and I haven't seen any difference between both Os when doing multi task.

Well well vista wins hands down for me......

XP for me takes some time to get things going after I enter my account, vista on the other hand is all ready as soon as I enter my account.

And you have a quad core so you'll have to take that to it's limit in both OSes to see the difference.

my question wasn't answered.aoshi_shinumori
It's the same dude.Screen tearing has nothing to do with your monitor being CRT or LCD.

What screen tearing without vsync has to do is with the refresh rate of the monitor.

However as I said vsync doesnt have a noticible effect on your performance if you enable triple buffering so it doesnt really matter.

[QUOTE="aoshi_shinumori"]how about screen tearing? do you experience that on LCD's? on CRT's you can remove that with VSYNC but with a huge performance hit. how about LCD's?Lach0121

*sigh*

There's NO huge performance hit of any sort with vsync.ENABLE TRIPLE BUFFERING!!!!!

v-sync does take a performance hit but not much, most people are confusing performance hit for frame-rate capping at refresh rate.....

and i play all my games with v-sync and triple buffering... tripple buffering will improve 2 things... with vsync on.. 1. improves input lag of mouse and keyboard... 2. it improves your framerate slightly when vsync is on... so your framerate will stay at a more constant 60fps.

Triple buffering can greatly improve performance in some games.

[QUOTE="TerroRizing"]LCD surpassed crt long ago, otherwise people would still buy crts. I mean with a 2ms response time and much better quality... why would you prefer a crt?TheDarthvader

because CRTs are extremely expensive and over the buget of an average user. An uber expensive 19'' LCD will be slaughtered by an uber expensive 19'' CRT. Same goes for all the other sizes

Huh what??:|

so what exactly is the point of this thread?

True_Gamer_

A PRE BUILT PC twice as powerfull as the PS3 can be bought for just 15% more price.....

twice as powerful as a ps3 eh? lol can you prove that....

This can play Crysis at high 720p...PS3 cannot ... end of story...

Story reopened.....

This can play COD4 in 1080p compared to the abysymal 600p of the PS3.

End of story.:P

Actually they are in the black. They would be in the red if they were still losing money. The EDD hasn't lost a profit in nearly 2 years and has gained over 1 billion in the last 5 quarters.

UnnDunn

Microsoft lost billions with the original Xbox and took an additional billion hit with the warranty. They're still in the red. Period.

No that is not how it works. Being in the red means your still losing money, they are not. They are in the black, making profit but with that said they still need to make up for the original xbox.

No, they don't. That's not how it works.

It does dude,stop kidding yourself.

Until MS recovers all that much money, they would have been better off WITHOUT having anything to do with xbox gaming. Now until they do that, xbox cant become a financial success for them.Period.
