I was appalled to hear a few months ago in a pre-release interview that Leona Lewis had been chosen to do the main theme for FFXIII. Now she is a talented artist for sure, but I disagree with in a BIG way for a number of reasons:

Firstly- Even though she was chosen to do the theme, a song wasn't written specifically, like most artists do when they're asked to do themes eg: Jack White and Alicia Keys for the recent Bond movie. So the song has just been taken off her album, and this just seems so wrong. Something as big as FFXIII deserves more than just some random track taken off an album when neither song nor album were ever composed or produced with the immersive and captivating story, and imagery, FFXIII will undoubtedly have.

Secondly- All previous recent FF's have had unknown artists do additional music alongside Nobuo Uematsu (and the other guy who's name I can't remember, did FFXII, awesome also) and as a result blend in with the game well. Using someone with a high profile like Leona Lewis seems so mainstream and cheap (although im sure she wasn't) and really not what FF is about.

Thirdly- As mentioned above FF's are designed to involve, immerse and captivate you, give you that ability to lose yourself in another world. Having Leona Lewis wailing on in my ear at any point is going to ruin this I fear, because- well, I know it's Leona Lewis. I may as well just stick on Radio 1 whilst I play the game- it would amount to the same thing- annihilation of any ethereal atmosphere.

Fourthly- I very much doubt Leona is the slightest bit interested in the game, the culture, or the experience it can give. More than likely just a good bit of PR and a whopping pay check for her- again so not what FF is about, this feels wrong. People like Nobuo are so good at what they do because they're passionate about what they're creating music for.

Lastly- I've heard the song. It was on the official pre-release trailer. And it's terrible. If it was an emotional and well-written, orchestrated ballad then I may have been ok with the whole idea- but it's not! Its a poppy, empty sounding R&B record that has no memorable riff or lick. I listened to it less than 10 minutes ago and I cannot for the life of me remember how it goes. REally really not something you would associate with FF in anyway, is what I'm trying to say.

Anyway, rant over i'm sure i'll get over it but in the mean time could someone please put my mind at reast who is knowledgable of the game and tell me she doesnt feature in it much. Please!

FF X maybe the easiest- but to be honest it all depends on how much of a RPG/ FF player you are. Personally FF X was the first RPG and FF i actually got into- and first time round i found it very hard. Second time too.

Just for the record i'd like to point out that playing FFX for the first time still remains today- 3 years on- an amazing memory. I failed my GCSEs because of that game! It consumed my life! No game comes close in my opinion. I have my reasons. yes alot of them could be considered sentimental.
