@Master_Of_Fools: Ever heard of the term "localisation"? And FYI we've never had a pure unaltered FE game in the west, every game since FE7 has been censored to some extent when it was localised.
@bud-wiser: Hey, let's trust 3-line user reviews that came out 2 hours after the release date from people who don't even own the games over the reviews that actually attempt to analyse the games and whose reviewers have actually spent a couple dozen hours into the game.
Metacritic user scores like this just show how fucking childish the gaming community is, and why gamers aren't taken seriously.
@maneljoao: Bethesda took over the IP and made radical changes to it. There are lots of old fans who will resist the change with the fury of a thousand suns. And then there are people who hate Bethesda just because. 50 hours into the game, I'd give it somewhere between a 8.5 and 9. It's definitely not a hardcore game, but I don't see how a game has to be hardcore to be enjoyable.
@whirlwind12: lol if you take player reviews seriously, I don't think I can take you seriously. I'm willing to bet less than a fifth of those 'reviewers' even actually have the game, and those who do have barely played it, considering most of the reviews were written on launch day.
It's becoming the new cool thing to hate on Bethesda and how they 'casualise' games (I consider myself a hardcore gamer but I think equating hardcore design to good design is fucking stupid).
@lamprey263: Ouch. In my area games stores are mostly owned and run by avid gamers too so I guess they take more pride in this sort of thing. Of course not every store is decorated to that level but it's not uncommon to see life size statues of game characters in shops.
What I hope to be the case for the FO4 embargo is that the huge day one patch fixes a great number of things and we get to play it mostly bug-free on launch and Bethesda doesn't want us to see the lower scores from the buggy builds. But knowing Bethesda it'll probably take a miracle for it to be remotely clear of bugs on launch.
@silly_buffoon: No offense but that I think that opinion is pretty naive, because counter-intuitive as it might seem, working in a field related to your hobbies or passion doesn't mean it's a fun job. My own example is that I love video games and I see it as an art form with so much potential. I can also honestly tell you that making games for a living is shit.
