Game developers could punish Gamespot for a harsh review in various ways, such as refusing interviews or giving exclusive access to IGN instead of Gamespot.

I'm sure the game publishers don't actually pay you in cash, that would be too blatant. Instead, I expect that favours are done in other ways, such as providing complimentary flights and hotel rooms at gaming events.

Most overrated franchise of all. Madden is the same basic shit every year with a few minor tweaks and Gamespot still gives it a good review.

AC games will always be good, but they will never be great as long as its a yearly franchise.
