@CincoToes @Shanedo52 I'm not sure if you rem member this but 2k games came out with a superior NFL football game in 2005 I think and sols it for 20 bucks and it kicked maddens ass so bad EA sports went out and paid the NFL millions of dollars for the exclusive rights to NFL teams and players so that there would be no competition and they could price gouge people for basically player updates year after year, there is even a law suit regarding it, I was contacted by the lawyers. So that's why I said I hopoe Sony has a good machine this time around. To keep micro on there toes. Competition is good for consumers. I think Microsoft wanted to see what Sony's stance is on all this stuff before they announce there console. Otherwise its not in their best interest two come out second. Look what happened to Sony last time.

I have 3 x-boxes and I am so glad The pompous asses at Sony have been under so much pressure that I Believe they will listen to their consumers for once and come out with a great product. This will hopefully keep Microsoft in check since the sound like they think their shit don't stink. It was just a console prior that they were fighting for their life and with win 8 flopping the Xbox becomes that much more important for their company bottom line. They need to realize that we as consumers set the market not them with their ideas of as always online, digital only distribution, and no used games compatibility. All of which allows them to price fix games and content. Just look at the diiference of buying an older game at GameStop vs digital download. Imagine if you didn't have the choice to buy it on disc and were forced to buy only from the marketplace Competition is good for the consumer. I hope that Sony has a reckon console even if I like Microsoft's x box live.

They could just lower the initial sale of new games.

I work at one of the worlds largest retailers and we work off lower profit margins but move mass amounts of product, making us in the end more profitable than high end stores with high prices.

1 million games at 60 bucks= 60 million and the loss of all used game profit.

Or

5 million units at 30 bucks = 150 million.

Let's face it we all would like the game on day one but for a lot of people the price is to steep so they are forced to Wait. Also not all games are worth the same amount, but the industry has been price fixing all new games for the most part at 60 bucks. The online arcade title downloads are successful because of price point and they have different prices depending on the scope of the game.

@Saketume @Devils-DIVISION @Shanedo52 you would think that's why it should be cheaper. Like buying from the internet as apposed to a store front.no overhead, packaging ect. I get emails from origin on their games directly and they are always cheaper. Like the new need for speed they offered for 25 bucks. I think its more like price fixing because there isn't an alternate download site for Xbox 360 games. That's why I'm very afraid of the future, digital only distribution. PC is different because there is open distribution but with consoles you are locked into their marketplace. I know there is speculation regarding a blue ray player on the new Xbox, but at first there was speculation of digital only. There will come a day when they toy with the idea again.

If its really about game makers and publishers getting paid instead of price fixing all that needs to happen is that a percentage of all used games has to go to the original developer, paid from the retailer upon the sale. No used game hardware blocking necessary.

Has anybody else noticed how a older game offered on the Xbox marketplace for download is way over priced com paired to a phisical copy at GameStop? For example I was looking at spec ops the line and Xbox want 40 bucks, however at GameStop a new copy is 25 bucks and used its 18 bucks.

I have a real issue with this used game business besides the obvious purchasing of used games. I happen to own 3 x-boxes in the same household. And a family xbox live account so my son and wife have their own account. My issue is that even if I buy the game new, my son will not be able to play it with his profile in his room, I'm sure I'm not alone. I'm not sure the game manufactures have thought this stuff through in its entirety. I have been a Microsoft faithful, however I will be jumping ship to Sony if Microsoft pulls this sh#$. Also, have you or your kids ever taken your Xbox on the road, on a trip. The always connected issue will limit flexibility. Bill Gates would have never pulled this crap.
