Ocampo has had the best idea, being that they just tone down E3 and put limitations on spending and attendees. With this new format, small game developers are going to be hit hard if in fact you are going to have to go from hotel to hotel to get a look at new games...are you really going to want to head one place and then find your next location is going to be an hour long drive (traffic) to get to SmallJoesGameDevelopment for their game HappyFunHourWithGuns...I wouldn't...with the amount of games and developers that represented themselves at the old E3 I don't see the same exposure...and who knows, HappyFunHourWithGuns could have become the next best game since Excitebike, but since only a few independent sites could make it there, 'cause they couldn't get access to the larger developers conferences, no one will ever hear of it and the developer will go under when they could've made HappyFunHourWithGuns 2 and many other great titles. I am all for the prospect of developers saving money and possibly putting it into the games rather than into extravagant displays or their own pockets, but lets try to tone things down first before we scrapped the event that has worked for a long time and has just recently become just too much...hell make it like your school science fair...little booths, a few reps and maybe a demo slot or two (or however many the game warrants).
