I'm not so sure about Resurrection but I owned Trilogy back when and in spite of the fact that it was a fairly bad game I had a lot of fun with it and played all the way through. It was all about the setting for me.

[QUOTE="Second_Rook"]The Dreamcast because they had the benefit of seeing years of controllers that didn't work well and still made a piece of junk. Spinnerweb
OH COME ON! I loved that controller. It was like a speedboat *me turns imaginary steering wheel* :P Honestly, I liked it.

Well for every ugly dog there's someone who loves it. :)

Calling it "funny" and calling PA "pretentious" doesn't really make it any less of a stupid, sense offending line.

I mean... its stupid, and I guess the fact that you find it funny makes it MORE stupid since it was meant to be a serious line, as well as the fact that you would consider PA (the guys who put penis jokes into comic form for a living) pretentious.

Its like you showed me just how terrible the writing in Gears really is.

SPYDER0416
Anytime a writer spends a paragraph pointing out the stupidity of others the word pretentious is certainly applicable as he is definitely making a show of his imagined superiority. Besides I am reasonably certain that while the aforementioned line from Gears was not meant to be side splitting comedy it was written with a sense of humor rather than a belief that it was high drama.

The games are great, but the writing... ugh.

Penny Arcade said it best:

"There is a point in which the rookie says there are a ****load of grubs down there. Marcus Fenix corrects him, suggesting that there are, in fact, "ten ****loads". I want to grant that Gears of War takes place on the planet Sera, where ****load may be a genuine unit of measurement- but that's dumb, and this line is dumb, and the people speaking are idiots, and they live in a world of dumb****s where stupidity is a form of currency."SPYDER0416

The line from Gears is about ten ****loads funnier than the Penny Arcade guys pretentious drivel.

I suppose it depends what the composer is going for. Phantasy Star 3 had one of the most outstanding soundtracks of it's generation. I can still hear many of the compositions in my head whenever I recall the game. First party Nintendo games were also excellent, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Link to the Past all feature outstanding work. Regarding fifth generation I would tend to agree with the poster who prefers JRPG, the advent of the disc gave opportunity for the dramatic compositions which set the mood for epics such as the Final Fantasy series or Legend of Dragoon to really shine.

Would you be able to run it on a modern PC? Pardon me if that is a very ignorant question. As a secondary note if you like the Flashback/Out of This World, I recommend Heart of Darkness for Playstation, definitely a descendent of those two games.

The quality isn't on par with a Mario game. It doesn't look bad, but definitely not on the level of a Miyamoto game. Also I've noticed a lot of talk of emulators and pirated games of late, has there been a rule change here regarding that type of discussion?

It's like a cool mash-up of Zelda and God of War. I was having a great time playing it on the "other console" when said console took a dump. I was literally playing Darksiders when it happened. I was probably half way through or so. I'll get back to it in time.
