If I were you, I wouldn't pay attention to that price, I would get the game, for it's worth way more than $30. yes, I have rented it, beat it on multiple difficulty levels and I would, even now, buy it even if it costed a hundred bucks!! however, that's only my opinion. Eternal darkness is much more scary than resident evil because it messes around with the gamer's mind...yes it plays with the player...freakin' spooky, but fun with it's myriad of puzzles, action adventure playthroughs and dungeon probing, oh yes, fun, fun, fun
