If anything, DRM promotes piracy. Not only is it seen as a challenge, but many see it as a way to indirectly attack soem of the publishers that have just gotten out of control. Mark my words, Sims 3 will rival, if not surpass, Spore's pirated download count.
Useful, but not many games offer even half of those video options. In my experience, I've found that shadows are the absolutely worst culprit for FPS drops. For example, in Medieval Total War 2, I get nearly 6 FPS with shadows, and anywhere from 30-55 without shadows.
All of those points are valid, and if anyone accuses Gamespot of being biased, they obviously haven't seen Sony's tumbling features. Gamespot is reporting facts, just like they should do and just like they always have done.
