I'm a console gamer at heart since I've been playing them from the NES onward, but having recently built my first true gaming rig, I find my PC taking up most of my game time.

@primorandomguy: Nah, I think there are single player campaigns or one connected campaign for the different factions. From the one trailer it looks like there's at least a story.

@howmakewood: No no, I played on PS4 and it was 30 fps with drops. My rig that I listed specs for should easily crush it and get me much higher frames. I'll probably get it on PS4 though since that's where my friends will be playing.

So I got into the For Honor closed alpha on PS4. I've been looking forward to this game since the announcement trailer. Having played a dozen or so matches now I can say it's pretty good. It takes a little getting used to.

The combat feels like a mix of the Souls games in terms of pacing and lock-on mechanics, the Dynasty Warriors games for how you have to deal with mobs of easy to defeat enemies and the occasional "Hero" (other players), and Metal Gear Rising in terms of how you use the right stick to "aim" the direction of your swings and change your stance. One-on-one fights almost feel like a dance or have a rhythm element because you're trying to match the stance of incoming attacks to block, then counter from a different angle.

My only gripes with the game so far are some netcode issues and the framerate, which is 30fps but occasionally has drops. I just built a good gaming PC (i7 6770k @ 4.0GHz / 32GB DDR4 / GTX 1070 SC), so now I'm debating what platform I'd get it for, but framerate is probably fine for this type of game.

Overall, a pretty fun unique experience if you're looking for something slower paced and methodical compared to the sea of shooters out there.

I posted this because the alpha has been running since Thursday and today is the last day. Anybody else playing it / interested?

It's closer to something like the HTC Vive, which is $800 or the Oculus Rift, which is over $1000.

Well, for me, it comes down to not previously having a passable gaming PC and now having recently built a good one. Games that I initially played on console I'll pick up later on Steam when they're on sale. Only now do I have the quandary of whether to buy the console version or PC version of games. I recently bought Steam Link, so I'm probably gonna get Mafia 3 for PC but play "console style" on my couch with a controller. I played Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 on 360, but never owned one, so I bought them once I had a capable PC.

I'm buying Titanfall 2 initially on console to play with my girlfriend who doesn't have a gaming PC, but I plan on buying it later for PC when it goes on sale. For me, it really depends on the game. I have a good gaming PC now and all the BioShock and Arkham games, but I've still considered buying the collections for both on PS4. Mostly to have them all in one spot and for trophies. Battlefield 1 I will be buying exclusively for PC because that's where it's best and I don't have any console friends to play with. I was going to get Rise Of The Tomb Raider on PS4, but seeing as it's capped at 30 fps and I'm sure my PC can run it better, I'll just get it for PC and play it on Steam Link.

I will say that it seems dumb to buy controller-centric indie games again on PC when they run and look exactly the same on console (Don't Starve, for example). Unless there's a steep sale or you feel using a kb/m is better for those games or you REALLY like the devs and want to support them again, there's really no reason to double-dip.

I played a little bit on PS4, but had Insider early access to the PC beta and have mostly been playing that. Well, that and Goldeneye: Source.

What did they dumb down, mems? I played the PS4 tech test. Right after it ended, I got Titanfall 1 Deluxe Edition for PC (was on sale for $10). If anything, I'm amazed people paid $60 for the first game (and the one I bought CAME with all the DLC). Immediately upon playing the first game I missed the grappling hook and the ability to slide after sprinting. Based on just the 3 maps I got to play I'd say the second game has a better sense of movement, better graphics, a better variety of Titans, better weapons, and better maps. I'll keep playing Titanfall 1 on PC until Titanfall 2 comes out. But between all the new Titans, the greater diversity in combat, and the addition of a single player campaign, I'd be lying if I said I didn't think that the second game looks like a vast improvement.

Yeah, I was gonna say the font choices and the way the loadout screen looks give me a Battlefront vibe.

Playing with a Superclocked 1070, i7-6700 @ 4.0GHz, and 32GB DDR4 I'm playing maxed at 1080p with DX12 enabled and averaging 100-130 fps. Game is fun, just trying to get better at it. All my previous Battlefield experiences have been on console. This is my first Battlefield I'm buying for PC (I own BC2, BF3, and BF4 on PC, but got them way after the console versions).
