Ok, I can confirm now that the Xbox has been beeping. It did it again last night just as I was about to turn it off. It's emmitting a fairly long (1/2 second) beep that sounds like an alarm of some kind. But the unit still continues to function for at least a short period of time afterward. Although, I've not had it on more than 15 minutes after hearing the beep.

My guess is this is some sort of warning about temperature? But the manual doesn't say anything about it and none of the lights have turned red. I wish I could get some idea of what is going on here. The unit is fairly new and I could still take it back if its faulty. I don't really want to load up my hard drive with saves and arcade games and then loose them all by replacing the unit.

When you send your xbox in, you take the hard drive off, you keep all your profils, saves and games on it. I think mine's beeped before but I've never had any problems.

I'm having the same problems and my guess as to why it's taking so long: all the xbox people are on christmas vacation.

if you can hook up an ethernet cable to your 360 from a router connected to your modem, either by running it through the house or drilling a hole in the ceiling of the computer room, you can get on Live. If you'd rather not worry about wires and have a wireless modem, you can get the $100 wireless adapter. I drilled a hole in the floor by my router and have it running underneath the house to my room, where i drilled another hole in the floor and have the cable running up into my 360. Cheap and easy if you don't mind having a small hole that can be covered with a desk or something.

the update will also let child accounts be converted to adult accounts, which is a huge deal to some of us because there has been no way to do it until now. (an account made before age 18 is always a child account even after the 18th birthday.)

It's possible with the Wii. Nintendo can upload demos and stuff to your Wii the the WiiConnect24. Then you can connect your Wii and DS wirelessly with the "find a download" on the DS main menu. They can probably use the same technology they have in the stores where you can download demos. Maybe there'll be a Wii channel for this later on.
