@Iddhi Dead Set was amazing. Most Americans missed it for obvious reasons, but I happened to be courting my british girlfriend at the time and had spent 6 months in South London. (Now married to her)

Dead Set is worth finding if you've ever liked zombies and/or hated reality shows.

@oldschoolvandal That's kind of what I liked about Last of Us, that any time I had to kill scavengers there were those first few seconds before you attack where you hear them talking and realize they're just people, and they have worries, and they're not necessarily bad, they're just surviving exactly like you are. But they're in your way, so that makes you kind of an asshole, but that's the world you live in now. It bothered me too, but I LOVE that it did.

I was a serious fan of zombies long before they were ever a part of games. What I loved about the concept of them back then still needed to be explained to people. They're pretty much the only movie monster where the direct threat is not the monster itself, but how awful human beings become when backed into a corner fighting for survival. I used to back Romero for decades until Land of the Dead and his following movies made me realize those movies were good for their time and place, and Romero was just a burned out hack. Myself as a kid would have never believed what my present self just said.

There were years when zombies started showing up in games, primarily RE, and I was overjoyed that they were there in any form, no matter how watered down. Then, gradually, they started showing up everywhere, but I felt like I still knew when zombies were done the right way, so I could just filter the oversaturation and find the gems.

I started reading the Walking Dead comics and it was kind of like a passing of the torch, since Romero was completely off his game. When the statement was made that "we are the walking dead", I knew Kirkman got it, then the TV show started and I was proud that there was finally a true representation of zombies out where everybody could see it. At the same time, that's when the feeling started edging in like "What's left?"

It's pretty clear to me now that I'm doomed to end up hating zombies. Just like every other awesome thing ever created, it's been sucked into the pop culture abyss and raped to the point of no return. We really don't know when to back off of a good thing, it's not in our nature. Especially now in the age where every form of media you could ever want is there for the taking. We're the bingers. I'm not bitter about it, and I still get excited when something as flawed but great as State of Decay comes out, but now you say zombies and there's an inevitable eye rolling, and the saddest part is my eyes are starting to roll with them.

You're not too good at this whole english/insult/intelligence/life thing, are you? Maybe you should just not speak ever again. Or type. Don't write or type anything. Don't give your opinions about anything. Just stand/sit and listen for a few years. A brain pilgrimage. Seek a higher consciousness. Travel the world, grow a beard, come back, shave the beard, and finally open your mouth. Then put a gun in there and make your one contribution to the earth. Decomposition.

The one torch Saints Row had over GTA, even being a shameless rip off until it found it's strength, was co-op multiplayer. If GTA let you customize your main character's gender, look, and sound, and let you work through the entire story with your friend, I wouldn't have gone near Saints Row. But frankly, Saints Row 2 VS GTA 4, it was no contest for me. GTA 4 was boring imo. I don't give a shit about tacked-on PVP multiplayer they add to every game but co-op multiplayer through an entire story (attention Bethesda) will trump most things for me. Customization makes it twice as nice.

@Fep_Oleita @ooblah @Syphen_bast Regardless of motivation, he has a point. It's never going to change. A pretty girl talking in an educated manner about gaming is attractive and there's always going to be tons of comments by gamers who lose their shit about it. I think the difference in her journalism being trivialized is if you take your typical female news reporter for local, there's not a message board directly under the casting. I'm 34 and I spent about 75% of the time listening to what she was saying and the other 25% spacing out because she's distracting. I suppose that's progress? Another 10 years maybe I'll only space on 10% of things attractive women say.

I guess the point is we'd like more females to take part in gaming but it sucks that they have to constantly be objectified for having a vagina rather than taking the quality of the reporting. I'm guilty too, I know I'm lame for it. I have never been able to get through one video with Carolyn Petit without obsessing on the fact she's a man with an annoying voice, and that's a shame because Carolyn's reporting is probably pretty decent, or that's what I hear. I cant turn that part of my brain off though, just like I can't watch Jess without my eyes wandering. Just being honest. Maybe I'm a scumbag. LOL so be it.
