I've seen another article where they were talking about why classic video game music is in large more popular then more recent video game music. Classic video games had limited notes they could use. Most catchy music also has a limited note structure. As you go into games with orchestral scores, it becomes less catchy. I mean there's also emotional attachment, and some video game music is just good.
@art_vertex007 @PsyonicPlague Yeah, different game genre's age differently. FPS age really fast. Strategy games age slow. Puzzle games hardly age at all.
@PsyonicPlague When did you play it? That makes a big difference. FPS generally age a lot faster then other genres. Today, I think hl 2 would be mediocre to bad. I think it's influence most other fps single player that's come out since. Not to mention it's pacing was in some ways better then a lot of other shooters. It also influenced how games deal with physics.
@D1N02982 @n1i2z3a4n5 I think you'd be more appropriate in saying you don't care for puzzle games, instead of asserting that they are all crap. I don't care for racing games, but I acknowledge that some of them are very good. I've always found gta games boring, but I think they are technical achievements which push the industry forward. I would only call a game crap if it had no redeeming qualities from an objective point of view.
@Thanatos2k @KeviNOlighT @billlabowski Well it's kinda funny that the most mature stuff generally has a pg type rating. It should really be called inappropriate for children.
I think it kinda glamorizes violence, but no more then movies or tv shows. And you have to be a sociopath to not be able to distinguish between fiction and reality. If you're a sociopath on the other hand, hey, you can find inspiration for violence anywhere. Like trying to impress jodie foster.
