I recently bought an F1 magazine and it had some stats of the 2009 season and I found them really interesting and decided to share:

Jenson Button scored one fewer pordium in 2009 then he did in 2004.

In Malaysia half points were awarded for the first time since the 1991 Australian Grand Prix. The race time of 55 minutes and 30 seconds makes it the 3rd shortest race in history, behind Australia 1991 (24 minutes and 34 seconds) and Spain 1975 (42 minutes and 53 seconds).

The Safety Car was deployed nine times this year, leading a total of 43 laps.

Luca Badoer spent 40 laps in 17th position and in two races had to pay $8,630 in speeding fines (fail).

Button was the second brit in a row to win the title in Brazil by finishing fifth in car number 22. And it was the fifth year in a row that the championship was clinched at Brazil.

Car 23 won a grand prix for only the third time in F1 history this year when Rubens Barichello won in Valencia. The first was Jim Clark in the 1964 Belgian GP and the other was Hekki Kovalainen in Hungary last year.

The winners of the opening GP of each year has won the title 16 times in the past 20 years.

The Average age of the 25 drivers who started races last year was 27.

Until Abu Dhabi Hamilton raced in 51 consecutive GP's without a mechanical failure - just seven short of Michael Schumacher's record.

The only driver who started every race during the 2009 season and still didn't manage to score a point was Williams number two Kazuki Nakajima.

Lewis Hamilton's pole position in Abu Dhabi was 0.667 seconds quicker then Sebastian Vettel's P2 - the largest gap between first and second drivers on the starting grid since the 2005 Hungarian Grand Prix, when 0.897 seconds seperated Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya

Renault finished eighth in the constructors championship - their worst since 1978 when they came 12th.

Between the Turkish and Belgian GP's, six racers were won by six ddifferant drivers: Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Lewus Hamilton, Rubens Barichello and Kimi Raikkonen. There have not been seven differant winners in seven differant races since the 1982 season.

There have been 605 pitstops in all 17 races this year.

Nick Heidfeld's retirement in Singapore broke his streak of 41 races without a retirement, which started at the 2007 French GP.

On the 17 podiums, 153 litres or Champagne were sprayed from three jeroboams, - although it wasn't alcoholic champagne in the Bahrain and Abu Dhabi races.

No Finn has ever won the Italian GP despite Keke Rosburg, Mika Hakkinen, Kimi Raikkonen and Hekki Kovalainen leading the race ten times between them

A total of $227, 397 was paid to the FIA stewards in fines

In Bahrain Jarno Trulli posted his first ever fastest lap in a race on his 203rd attempt

Not since 1993 have Ferrari failed to score a single pole position

There were a total of 52 lead changes in the course of the season

Button won the title in his tenth full season. Only one driver in the past took more season to do it: Nigel Mansell in 1992 his 12th season

Lewis Hamilton has never lead a single lap of the Brazilian GP

There have been 272 race with refualling since it was re-introduced in 1994

If you started in Mellbourne and flew as the crew flies to every race to Abu Dhabi, you would have completed 48,365 miles (a little over half the testing miles Luca Badoer had done for Ferrari I added in this bit so it may not be true but i think it is)

Approximately $145million was speant on driver salaries in 2009

THE 'FOR SURE' WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Jenson Button isn't the only F1 driveer who keeps saying it - there are other repeat offenders. In 2009 the folks at RealBrawnGp.com started the 'for sure' world championship, counting how many times drivers used the phrase in Official FIA press conferences, Here's the lowdown.......

Highest 'for sure' average per press conferance:

Vitantonio Liuzzi: 4

Felipe Massa: 3.25

Jenson Button: 3.19

Lowest 'for sure' aveerage per press conferance

Robert Kubica and Timo Glock: 0.17

Jarno Trulli: 0.2

Most 'for sure' mentions in 2009

In 3rd place......... Sebastian Vettel! on 20

In 2nd place........... Lewis Hamilton on 22

And of course everyone knows who is 1st Jenson Button on a massive 67 (lol) triple the others
