Introducing a new thread - anything you wanna say about F1 that doesn't really fit into any topics out and about already? Got a question you need answering or whatever? Just post here :D

So starting with me - anyone tried the Yas Marina circuit on rFactor? I tried downloading it but it didn't show up on my circuits. I'll sort that out in a sec but wondering if anyone's given it a go yet?

No but i did play the official online demo from the promoters ( see here) and thought the track was pretty boring with no real gradient changes.

Do you reckon it will be easier or more difficult for Schumacher to adapt to the new F1 cars than say a rookie like Alguersuari given that they have changed so much since he last raced?

It's one of those age-old things ain't it from video games. You buy a series of games, get used to it then on one of the games the controls change, and a friend playing the new game for a first time has it easier to beat you.

I mean like Kip said, Schumi will have the practice sessions to get used to how the car handles, what KERS is like, and understand the layout of the Valencia Street Circuit. So long as he puts in enough laps, he'll get to a competitive level. As to whether it'd be the same level as 2006 is another question though.

I quess we won't know the answer to that question until we get to Valencica, but you can bet your house on the fact he will probably be one of the hardest working drivers during the summer break and free practice on Friday.

Oh, the joys of looking back in the past of the F1PU

Someone stop me. I consistently pick up on things KA said that don't turn out to be (Toyota in '08, Brawn car, and now Button). 'Tis not cool :(

With Webber picking up a half point in Malaysia what do you reckon the chances are of the title going down to just half a point for only the second time since 1950

From a fan's perspective, I sincerely hope not, but as a general viewer it could be exciting if it does occur.

But like I say, not this year please!

Less than 2 hours until the GP threads again, woop. Been too long.

It annoyed me how bad the F1 race was, given the GP2 races were quite good. Crash into the first chicane on the opening lap, and Pantano and Senna - two championship contenders - both running out of fuel just yards from the line.

The circuit CAN be good, it's just getting those qualities in the races. And if all else fails, Spa-Francorchamps is the week after.

There is an American team next year? Our local ABC and NBC stations haven't paid a second to it since it's rumors. They won't swoon over an American team like the Beeb does Brawn and McLaren (I am assuming this). Hell they don't give NASCAR a mention in the sports bit, unless someone flips eight and a half time.

The headline is misleading - and the document doesn't actually specify anything about the headline itself - but according to GP Diary (which is like what, unreliable a majority of the time?), Tilke has been "sacked" after the Yas Marina snorefest (which was saved by Button's battle with Webber at the end).

I'm still taking it with a pinch of salt and not believing it, but we need a new designer - Tilke can't do the job anymore.

Jenson Button is a genius.

He called in during Vernon Kay's show to talk with him, and at the end wished a Merry Christmas to the "viewers". This is a radio show.

Under the 2010 points system, Michael Schumacher would only have finished outside the points once, in the 2004 Chinese GP.

Ralf Schumacher is interested in a comeback to Formula 1, just like this brother. "I notice how much the desire to race in F1 is still inside me," Michael's younger brother told German magazine Bild. After a fast start in the Artic Lapland Rally, 2007 F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen crashed into a tree during the second stage. Raikkonen, who will race in this season's World Rally Championships, and co-driver Kaj Lindstrom were unhurt and got the car back on the road.

FIA has just announced (like two minutes ago) they won't be publishing the starting weights of the cars this year.

Err, because they'll virtually all be the same, give or take a few kilos?

Redders1989

More-so its to do with fuel efficiency. With the weights published straight away you will be able to tell which team's engine is the most fuel efficient, and if there is a big difference FOTA will again ask for engine equalisation which the FIA don't want to do.

Read it somewhere, can't recall where.

Been a mixed weekend for ex-F1 stars Kimi Raikkonen and Nelson Piquet Jnr.. The former World Champion's full debut in to the WRC hit problems on Friday after hitting a snow mound, dropping him well out of contention for any points. The ex-Renault driver, however, had a storming debut in NASCAR Trucks finishing 6th, despite qualifying 22nd.
