My point was simply she never makes a real point about the game you wouldn't know by reading the game info on Diablo's website. When I read a review I expect specific details about the game mechanics and how they apply. She merely references some skills that a witch doctor never uses to begin with because it's a pvp skill. I'm sorry Diablo 2 is a famous cult-classic game it deserves to be referenced in comparison to this one at least in some form. To say this game has outstanding visuals is a complete misrepresentation. The spell particles are cool, but I liked them first time I saw them in WoW too.
I don't think the "naysayers" were predicting graphic prowess to be second fiddle to gameplay. I think actual gamers were hoping we'd get fun enthralling games instead of "nerd art".

I enjoy games as an art form just like everyone else nothing will compare to my first experience with Assassin's Creed 2 and it's amazing landscapes. I think my point is I don't appreciate hard issues just being forced on me just because they are hard issues. This article is debating the transgenderness of a Japanese ( and a particularly weird one ) fighting game character. And as far Gamespot writing articles on game mechanics and the such, that is up for debate. It has been widely known that Gamespot favors other production companies because of endorsements and the such. I rarely read any of their reviews on hyped over-advertised games because of this reason.
People are focusing on the wrong things. I wish we could focus on things that really matter in video games... like game mechanics and evolution of video game genres. I could care less if there are gays in video games or not. It is such an afterthought to what I am experiencing in the game it's not even funny. I want to see more articles calling out production companies like Activision for shoveling the same poop on us year after year. How about you write in-depth articles on Call of Duty becoming the new annual Madden. The simple fact is if I want to read a column about society I'll crack open the newspaper. Resources are being wasted in this website on columns nobody cares about.
Articles like this just make me feel like it was written for themselves and not for me, a video game consumer. I guess if I was an activist in anything other than going to work and being a good provider I would care more.
90% of gamers are crazy people in the virtual world, but are completely sane in the real world. Just write stuff for the crazy people and stop trying to get us to live on the internet.
Without gamers there would be no games. So the argument that the developers own the game is kind of an obvious point, they made it lol. They have to make games we'll play though that's a simple economic fact. Yeah maybe it was mean that people called her names on the internet, but life is tough get over it. You put yourself out into the public via twitter being high profile in the gaming world then you brought it upon yourself. BTW a column attacking gamers on a game website kind of alienates your audience. Leave the world view stuff to CNN.
