It's cos you were younger, and everything seemed better. Nostalgia be playing tricks on you.

It's not that everyone wants remakes, it's that developers/publishers see it as an easier way of making money than developing new games.
I just recently bought a PS4. The price wasn't the difference because they're now more or less equal.
Bloodborne + no power brick were the clinchers. I never actually thought I'd buy a console because of a single game. I used to laugh at the notion of "system sellers".
Microsoft should have been pushing like crazy to get something like Gears of War out in the first 18 months of the life cycle. I may have been swayed.
The most popular game in the world is League of Legends, with over 60 million players. It's free to play too. I've never even seen a screenshot of it...
I prefer games that don't have difficulty options.
I still start on Normal, but I figure that devs are nerfing the Normal difficulty to ensure players feel like they're playing at a good level, but are still able to progress comfortably.
I still associate Hard with the Hard difficult of yesteryear, which is probably not wise.
FF15 doesn't as yet look like an MMO masked as a single player game, so no. If that 40 minute gameplay video was DAI, there would have been 25 (fetch) quest markers pop up.
I'm not sure there is much of a conflict. From where I stand, the next major release is in late May with the Witcher 3, giving roughly 2 months for both Pillars and Bloodborne. I'll be playing Bloodborne first as it comes out a few days before, and it will most likely be much shorter than Pillars.
well if you're into pvp, Bloodborne will be hundreds of hours longer.
I'm not into PVP at all, which is why I didn't mention it.
