What happens to points one already has? Will they become null and void?

I really don't understand the NEED for them to make games for the next-gen machines. There's nothing wrong with this one. Lots of people aren't planning on buying a new machine, and even for those that do, there's no reason to can their older ones. I would prefer the less-costly on the dev's side, this gen. game, to a game for next-gen. that costs them more money, so we get less game.

@VGamesrule Very intelligent of you to flag all of us Americans as dumb as dog shit. Wow, that surely makes me want to listen to you. A-hole.

@jeffrobin Okay, I've been off watching gameplay videos on YouTube, and reading game descriptions and reviews, of Bad Mojo, and Bad Mojo Redux. I cannot believe I missed this game! It's totally right up my alley, and I'm going to check into whether or not it would even run on my computer, and if I can find a copy of it. This is so awesome! Finding a cool game I haven't heard about, or finding awesome music I haven't heard before TOTALLY makes this girl's night. Thanks so much for mentioning it jeffrobin! :-D

I deal with someone who sees gaming as a mindless pursuit, every single day, and it's horribly frustrating. I have washed my hands of giving a crap anymore really, I just occasionally have to talk about it with him because the topic comes up.

@Moron_Brotha Why does there need to be a balance in games? Why does there have to be maturity, education, or whatever you want to say, in each game?? Everyone's different and likes to play different games. We don't all want or need the same things from our games. That's why variety is key. Why does a game suddenly become "okay" to play if there's education in it? We've got to worry about everybody's little kid gettin' their hands on a copy of GTA, so now the Rockstar needs to watch what they put in their games? I hope that's not what you're trying to say...and if it's not, and I misunderstood, I'm sorry. Of course no parent can guarantee without a doubt that their child won't get their hands on a copy, but I think you can do a pretty good job of it by not allowing your child to play in your own house, obviously, and making it understood in the homes your child visits without you, that your child is not allowed to play BLANK game and so you do not want them to do so outside of your home either. Some people feed their kids McDonald's for every meal, but I'll be damned if I have to eat low-fat McNuggets and fries because of that.

Games with more mature themes are wanted and needed, I just don't like the word because it has connotations of being better then, than games without that label, to SOME people. We can't be worrying about games being played by kids who shouldn't be playing them......I fear you've opened a whole new can of worms.

@jeffrobin @PsychoChick966 Yeah, I most definitely want variety, jeffrobin. I guess if I had to pick another word to label gaming, I would choose art...and I suppose that's why I have such a big problem with the whole idea of using such a word as "mature" when it comes to talking about it. I don't want to discourage any type of game from being developed or enjoyed, because of pretense. You're right, the film industry is infamous for it...and that's just what I'm trying to avoid. People've had to go to great lengths and avoid all of the easier channels, when it comes to getting a great film made sometimes, all because it doesn't fit in with a studio's parameters. Sometimes, probably more often in the past, it's caused great stories not to be told/made.

I know I'm probably overly defensive when it comes to the topic of gaming, but I've enjoyed this love affair for a long time, and it's important to me. I don't want to sound like some petulant child when discussing this, so I hope I'm not coming off that way. I would agree with you that the word mature doesn't need to mean boring...but I think that it's defined (correctly or incorrectly) differently to many people. So, I just think we need to be really careful using that word for fear of some games not even being considered to be made.

I'm glad so many of us are being vocal about what we like, don't like, and want from the gaming industry. It's at least a step that we don't have to say with our heads down, "Yeah, I uh.....am a gamer."

@supa_badman @PsychoChick966 Yeah, I get that supa_badman, and it's cool that gaming is expanding even further than it has already. My problem is really about picking the industry apart with all of the unnecessary academia and labeling...and then there's the qualifying. Like your sentence which includes "...may add some credibility as a medium." I don't understand why "credibility" is needed in the first place. Who needs it to be considered credible, and who defines what credibility even is? It's a totally subjective thing, and with gaming, talking about and comparing any two games, is like talking about and comparing two pieces of artwork. If you are a real lover of art, you can't say one is more credible and worthy of hanging in a gallery. How do you prove your idea of credibility? You can have preferences, and even not like some...but it should be a personal opinion or choice. It shouldn't be about some games having a label of being more credible and worthy of note.

I think that when you start to need credibility, or to define things in that way, you weed things out and DIScredit some. Again, just to use art as an analogy, you may not have a preference of some kinds of art, but do you really want to see a particular kind, or style, labeled as being more credible than another? What would that do to art? Also, I am just sick to death of people trying to defend gaming (I USED to) to anyone and everyone. Why the hell should my preferred choice of entertainment NEED to be defended or shown to be "credible" to anyone? Know what I mean?
