Isn't it still cheaper to buy 40GB PS3, new HDD and new PS2 than 60GB PS3 playing PS2 games?

In my country it is. So I bought 40BG PS3 for 700$ (yeah, the price is a killer in most European countries), new 250 GIG HDD for 95. New PS2 costs 200$.

So, to sum up:

PS3 40GB + 250HDD + PS2 = 1000$.

New 60GB PS3 costs 1200$.

I am left with one spare 40GB 5400 rpm 2,5'' SATA HDD (I'll get an USB case for it for 20$) and 200$ in my pocket. Plus I have 100% compatibility with PS2 games and no problems connecting it to SDTV. Unless I'd have if I bought PS2, but what's the point? Maybe If I got one for 100$, then maybe...

* All prices are for Poland in relation 1USD = 2PLN (more/less what we have today).

I own PS3 and will never buy Resistance nor CoD 4 on PS3. I tried the demo of Bad Company, played Half Life 2, Black and Halo on Xbox and can say that only platform to have great shooters is PC unless you can play those games on PS3 with mouse and keyboard. Didn't try that though, plus I've heared that UT supports k-board and mouse on PS3, so then it is just a matter of the place you are in. If your rig is better than PS3 get it on PC, you'll get more of it, if not, go for PS3. BTW I wouldn't go with resistance no matter what. Fight Night Round 3, NBA 2k8 and other console exclusives are the games that are worth playing on consoles, no idea why people play FPS it takes the all fun form it. Both pads are not accurate enough to play FPS. They are great with arcade and sport games though. Dirt demo plays great on the pad, better than wheel on PC. I bet it is true with GRID also since it is a pain to play this game with a wheel on PC, controls just don't feel right.

Hmm, IMHO PC here will be the most suitable. But since you want to choose between PS3 and XBOX 360 I can't help you, I can only say, that I chose PS3. Generally even though 40GB version is in my country more expensive than 360 Elite, PS3 has more power, brighter future and more features, plus online gaming is free as far as I'm correct. From what I've seen even the lowered down resolution in PS3 doesn't make games look noticeable worse. And one thing more. DVD-HD is dead, so why to overpay for X360 if no films are available or at least very few on HD-DVD, plus BD films are 50$ each, so no tragedy here.

Plus it is sick to pay for a game and then pay monthly fee to play it online or pay for extra content. That's why I think I'll get PC version.

I beg to differ :D. Why they look better? Higher resolution? I doubt it, the hunch when to take a screenshot? Heh, don't have to work for GS to be good at this. A matter of taste IMHO. Nevertheless the issue was to add screenshots for games that GS left aside.

Some time ago new feature was added. Users could post images/screenshots just like they did with videos and they would show on the game's page here on GameSpot. If you look for Space Quest 1 VGA here on GameSpot and click the link the page with info about SQ1 will open. There you have buttons like Summary, Reviews and among others Images. When this option was introduces and you wanted add a screenshot to the game that didn't have any you couldn't access it through the Images button unlike with videos. Now it is possible, but it took a month or three.

[QUOTE="dvader654"]Neogaf had their end of the yeahGOTY vote and awards, as usual its better than most every site. The winners were voted on by over 5000 gamers. Here are the results, Galaxy won GOTY.UpInFlames

Way too console oriented for my taste - Crysis not being one of the top 5 FPSs of the year and The Witcher ignored in the RPG category is kind of laughable. Ditto for the adventure category, obviously those guys can't differentiate an action game from an adventure game.

I second that view. GOTY is a laughing stuff on GS. I don't even watch the video anymore. Sadness...

I have to say I was shocked just five minutes ago when I saw the GameSpot Images button showed up and I thought: "No... They didn't... But they did!" Thank you for implementing this option, soon I will post more my screenshots of games that don't have them.

Now... When the old reviewing system for GS users is coming back or will this one be enhanced, or maybe it wa and I don't know it, cause I got so fed up with the new one I didn't dare to write any review since then.

Nah, you are overreacting mate. It's Eidos' (I guess their branch responsible for advertisement) business to promote their games on sites like those and it is GameSpot's business to make sure their reviews are trustworthy and reliable as well as their staff. Just the American way of doing things. For us Europeans much more important is the idea, they value money. Just plain cultural difference.

As for Jeff, well it was his time to go. Hi supported dumbing down review system and since he didn't see nothing wrong in action that hit the community... well I am surprised that he wasn't fired next day. If site was run by European media that cares about the content and is faithfull to its roots he would loose his job instantly. On his place, I would just stay quiet or do what Greg did. The review of Oblivion and unbelievably high score meant that it was Greg's time, he just got lost and allowed his preferences and overall media pressure affect his review. Plus console versions got much higher score for no reason.

Nah, it is not that annoying. The colour is nicely tonned from silver like to dark grey. I'm on 1680x1050.

I second the idea of bringing back old rating system! BRING IT BACK!!!!

As for the poor admins and mods they can do nothing about that. GS staff just doesn't care enough to listen to our request or just to show any interest on this forum. Admins will lock all our posts, cause they know nothing will be done and its their job to do so.

But nevertheless:

BRING BACK OLD REVIEW SYSTEM FOR US USERS!!
