Expresses Gearbox's views on Vita development, and in this case it doesn't seem good at all.

Most Sony games I don't even care about, neither do most people. Sony's first party has always been weak in my eyes.

Sony are stupid, but they're not THAT stupid: PS4 will be a physical console, I imagine the aquirement of Gakai will help for things like backwards compatibility as I can't see an x86-based CPU emulate the Cell in the PS3.

all Sony are doing is making sure the PS4 won't succeed :? PS4 needs big first party titles at launch

that sux...but it isn't affecting any of the game releases so....

Masenkoe

Wishful thinking. It may have such an effect you'll never se a PS4 so....

If the losses were higher then perhaps. But $1B to a corporation as large as Sony isn't as much as you'd think.

Are you kidding me? A billion dollar loss is massive for any corp, let alone one that hasn't made a profit in over four years and has only been losing billions in that time

Most Gaffers believes it's the cost for R&D for PS4. Just saying ...

Masenkoe

Wishful thinking Cows.

Lets ignore the fact that Vita is one of the biggest disasters of all time.

People seem to forget that the 3DS was in the same hell hole last summer. The Vita will pick up eventually, but it cost a ton to develop I bet,

that on top of costs for developing PS4 it would be tremendous. Do you know how much the first Kinect prototype cost? I'm pretty sure I read it was around $50,000. These technologies are not cheap to make, disaster or none.

3DS was never selling as poorly as the Vita is doing right now, 3DS had a huge price cut and system-selling games to get it out of the hole. The Vita just doesn't have any of those coming. The only way Sony can save the Vita is by paying devs to develop games for it, but is that likely?

PS4 is at least two years away, doubt it's putting too much strain on them right now - they're not going to pull a PS3 this time around, in their financial situation they'll be far more conservative with PS4.

Microsoft have the money to spend, so they'll spend big, completely different situation to Sony.

Would make sense. Explains Nintendos losses too

No they don't, it's a combination of things.

Nintendo's losses are down to the 3DS price cut, they've never made an annual loss before that do not forget.

1 source = Fact, I might be able to believe this if it was the entire company, however there is no way just the gaming division loss this much, 3x Nintendo? The wii + 3ds couldnt be selling/making 3x better profit then the psp, vita ps2 and ps3 so I call bs. Like I said, maybe the entire company but not just SCE

Maneil99

Dude, the entire company lost nearly $5 billion last FY

Damn, that is surprising to me, and I am one of the more pessimistic people when it comes to Sony's future financially.

They said exactly the same thing about the PS2 a year before the PS3 was fully revealed, as far as I remember.tomarlyn

Back when in the days when Sony were actually making money.
