@PlasmaBeam44 @MapRef41N93W I was gonna say you could just plug in a PC or laptop underneath your television, add a bunch of controllers, and your set. Don't see what is so complicated. Yet I could see your argument regardless. If you wanna play Mario Cart, just play Mario Cart.

So why did it get an 8 if the reviewer can't point out any negatives? (O.o)

I'll admit, I'm not really too much into first-person shooters besides a dozen which I thoroughly enjoy. Yet by god this looks like such good, stupid fun! XD Definitely caught my attention now.

@Raxyman Never went online with either Dark Souls 1 or 2 because I don't really like online gaming, although I did consult the wiki rather often for strategies, and item locations. If I had to guess, I think the first one took me around 50 or 60 hours to complete to the point where I felt confident I found, and beaten almost everything. I actually think the Souls games are better offline, the feeling of always being alone with no help aids both the atmosphere, and gameplay, I think.

@ReadingRainbow4 @Penguinlord1 Its not initially investing in stat points what I think can be confusing, its having a build in mind, and understanding the game as a whole enough so that when your hours into the game, sticking with that build, that you have something that not just works, but excels.

@ReadingRainbow4 @Penguinlord1 He did provide a second opinion, a different one. With all honesty, yes, stat allocation is both a difficult, and important decision in the Souls games. You have to know what you want right from the beginning, and you can't mess up. General allocation is easy, yet creating a GOOD build? You definitely need some reference material for that. So for a beginner its easy to understand why it would be both frustrating, and confusing when your hero simply isn't working anymore hours down the line.

@ReadingRainbow4 Most Souls players won't admit it, but you kind of have to use a guide for the finer points of these games, period. Especially for making builds which is such a huge decision.

@ReadingRainbow4 @Penguinlord1 So how is it wrong? You could argue it till the cows come home, yet I think we are all in agreement that the Souls series are VERY technical games, almost as much as Monster Hunter. Lots of stats, abilities, items, weapons, armors, and accessories to all consider. Investing too much in certain stats can royally screw your build over. Certain abilities are either virtually useless or ridiculously overpowered (I'm looking at you DS1 pyromancy). Some item descriptions are extremely vague, making it absolutely necessary at times to consult a guide. All weapons wield differently from one another, and place certain effects on your character. Some armors make you heavier, lighter, and place certain effects on your character. Most of all, despite how we are used to it, the Souls games do make you consider A LOT of stats compared to other RPGs. Even further, the Souls games are a huge investment both emotionally, and time-wise: You have to be on the top of your game most of the time.

What I'm getting at out of all of this, I don't blame him for giving the score that he gave it. More so, I don't blame him for just putting the game aside, and saying "Enough." Why should he put aside countless hours, and some emotional frustration just for a game? When he could just as easily play one that makes him happy? If he played it, made an opinion of it, even if he didn't like it, then that is it. Plus, honestly spending 25 hours with a game is more than enough time to have a good grasp on a game when many of us had a grasp on the original DS in less than an hour.

@ReadingRainbow4 Yes, while you, and I enjoy it as a game, numerous others don't. Which should be understandable since not every one likes certain games. Yet the Souls community is arguably as aggressive as the fighting game community at times. This is to the point where if you say you don't like the Souls or aren't good at them that your terrible at games. Even if your just stating your opinion like the gentleman in the article, while the Souls community obviously doesn't agree with it, he has every right to voice his opinion, and his opinion isn't any less valid than the rest despite what all the commenters are saying.
