I'm currently in the process of writing a feature on video games where Halloween was celebrated or featured at some point and it's turning out to be more difficult to research than I originally imagined. Can you guys think of any games (or moments/scenes in games)where Halloween was portrayed? Thanks!

The main games in the series (Red-Blue, Gold-Silver, Ruby-Sapphire, etc) are all technically identical. With every generation they release the same game, with slight graphical improvements, few new features, and a new cast of Pokemon. So you can't really pick out a weak game in the main series. out of the spin-offs, however. I'd have to say "My Pokemon Ranch" was the most useless.

I'd definitely have to say that Pokemon is like a drug that you just need to get more and more of. Seeing that we're at just about 500 Pokemon to collect now. Just picking one, leveling it up, breeding it with another to get an egg of a new Pokemon with the moves you want it to have and then leveling that new Pokemon to a satisfying level, etc, etc. . . It's a cycle that literally could go on forever.

From what I remember Star Ocean: The Second Story (PS1) had a tournament in the middle of the game that was a major plot point. It's been years since I played the game. however, so someone else might need to correct me.

I'm finally doing it. After years of postponing it due to nuutmerous reason, I'm finally getting a PS3. With the new low price, sleek small design and a robust library of exclusives, it's the best time to a PS3 owner (not to mention my brand new 42' HDTV). Which means I'll finally get a chance to play the climactic final game from one of my all time favorite series, MGS. But I thought: before I play MGS4, I should go back and replay all the main games in order to remember key points in the story and freshen up on my knowledge of the story before I jump into 4.

At first I thought to just play them in the order they were released: MGS 1 - MGS 2:SoL - MGS 3:SE

But then I thought it would probably be best to play them in chronological order: MGS 3 - MGS 1 - MGS 2

For those of you who have or have not played MGS 4, how would you go about it? And those who plan on playing it in the future but wanna replay the series like I am, what kind of playthrough did you have in mind? Any help will be appreciated.

Super Mario Bros/DuckHunt for the NES. FAMASWarrior
Although this question is probably impossible to answer, I'd have to go with that game as well. It's one of the earliest memories i have of playing a game for the first time.

A used version of GTA4 only $14.99? I should really stop using Gamestop as my only source for games, a used GTA4 is still priced at around $35.00.

It all depends on which games are able to stay fresh and innovative in order to keep the franchise alive from generation to generation. Symphony of the Night implemented the RPG elements, Super Mario 64 set standards for how 3D platformers would work for the next 10 years, and Metroid Prime managed to translate a side scrolling shooter into 3D. Other games like the Sonic series, failed to make that jump.

Castlevania: Went uphill with the PS1 but started to drip downward again over time.

Metroid: Went downhill after the SNES era.

Zelda: Went downhill after the SNES era.

Final Fantasy: Went significantly downhill after the SNES era.

Sonic: Went significantly downhill after the Genesis era.

Mario: Went downhill after the SNES era.

Mortal Kombat: Went abysmally downhill after the SNES/Genesis days.

...I'm noticing a pattern here...

Zweihand

Metroid Prime, Ocarina of Time, Super mario 64, and Mortal Kombat: Deception were all in way superior to their past counterparts and in a way redefined their particular franchises for a new generation. I guess it all comes down to personal opinion.

Amazing! Deep down in my heart i hoped RE2 wouldn't be the last time we'd see giant alligators. Can't wait.
