Linear games aren't neccessarily bad games. If a game was linear, yet immersive fun and creative, it would be good. Thats not to say open world is boring, like you said repetitivness is boring. However, if there were a variety of side missions that lead to an interesting plot or were fun etc. then that makes it good.
Take FF13, linear as f**ck till you reach the open world chapter. YES now its open world, then you realize its absolutely boring and there isnt a thing to do.
it happened to me once, i thought it was a ghost and I was very scared, it was my friend that left the house and was using his controller to turn off my ps3, found out in a week when he came back, maybe its that or maybe your ps3 is dying :0peruwolf93

^Everyone seems to highly recommend them. A week's postage isn't so bad considering postage is free and the game purchased is considerably cheaper (and new :D). Might try them out with something not as expensive and see how that goes.
My friend ordered a kinect game from them and for some reason it took 2 weeks plus it was damaged, however they sent him a new one straight away :P
It might be if a 3DS board is made. People pretty much talk about "what colour 3DS are you getting?" topics like these or the "What RPG games do you recommend on the DS?" and thats about it. :|
